    3. As far as I know, Bea, Fair Ridge cemetery is not transcribed and online anywhere on the net. And on the HCHS cemetery guide page, there's no indication in the Cemetery Readings column that HCHS has a transcription, either. It's listed (and the map link works) here on the HCHS cemetery guide - http://www.rootsweb.com/~pahuntin/hchs-cems.htm Aside from knowing it's a church cemetery, and where it's located, I don't know anything else about it. There are some other cemeteries in Dublin Township in the Shade Gap map area, as you'll see on that HCHS cemetery guide page. The cemeteries are sorted by township. That page is worth bookmarking, btw! I checked the registry to see if anybody's working on Fair Ridge, but nobody's signed up to transcribe it. - http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/pennsylvania/index_huntingdon.html There's a lookup link on the cemetery registry page, but the weather being what it is, I don't think this is a good time to ask anybody to go out to the cemetery for you! *L* Judy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bea and Stan Rutherford" <beair@verizon.net> To: <pahuntin@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, February 15, 2008 10:45 AM Subject: Re: [PAHUNTIN] Cemeteries ! 3. I have found a few of my southern Huntingdon County people buried across line in Fulton County. The Fulton County cemetery records are online at http://www.rootsweb.com/~pafulton/cemetery/CEM-ALL.TXT . This is a large file (2.34 MB), so if you have dial-up you may want to go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~pafulton/index.htm where there are instructions on how to do a partial list. The location of the cemeteries is at http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/pa/fulton/cemeteries/fultoncem.txt

I am also looking for information on the older Joseph's wife and where he and any of the children who remained local may be buried. I would also like to find his death date. I know that son Henry and his wife are buried in the Anderson Cemetery in Penn Township. That is the only burial I am aware of. I would love to compare information with anyone else researching the Shingler family. Thanks, Deb

    3. Bea, The only one I know of offhand is the Shade Gap Presbyterian Church Cemetery. I was there last May and will shortly have photos uploaded to my website. I want to take this opportunity to thank Debbie Riley for her transcription of the McConnelstown Cemetery. Four of my ancestors are buried there and she did an exceptionally good job of reading hard-to- read tombstones. I was hoping to be able to discern dates where she had not since they were my ancestors after all! But I was able to read no more than she was. Thanks, Debbie! 2. Not that I know of- but here is an interesting fact. As you know, my grandmother, Martha Matilda Orner, was a descendant of Matilda Brown. My grandmother had a sister, Margaret Orner, who married Charley NEARHOOF!!! They lived in Altoona, and had one daughter, name escapes me at the moment- she married Dick McDowell and also lived in Altoona. They were all lovely people! Sounds like I"M MY OWN GRAMPA!!!!!!!! The family removed to the Butler Co PA area, where she died in February 1829. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [PAHUNTIN] Huntingdon Globe-Nov 1, 1888 look up?
    2. Mary Lou Rogers
    3. Recently I found an obituary for my direct relative, Mrs. Susan Chilcott on WorldVitalRecords. Unfortunately the copy was not clear enough to be certain of all the actual dates. The obituary was in the Huntingdon Globe, Thursday, November 1, 1888. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to find the obituary? I would hope the copy you find would be more clear and we would then know or verify the dates? Source: Huntingdon Globe, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, Thursday, November 1, 1888 (Translated by Mary Lou Rogers on January 28, 2008) If anyone wants to use this then please keep in mind that I cannot be certain of the dates!! Mrs. Susan Chilcott, the venerable mother of Mr. Thomas Chilcott of Hopewell, died at the home of her son on Wednesday of last week in the ninety-third year of her age. Grandmother Chilcott's maiden name was Susan Teeters, and she was born in the lower end of Huntingdon county on the 23rd of August 1796. She was married twice. Her first husband's name was John Seedenburg, but the date of this marriage or the death of Mr. Seedenburg are not of command. On the 20th of December, 1837, she was again married, this time to Ethan Chilcott, who died in 1857. She was the mother of nine children---three sons and six daughters—five of whom survive her. As near as can be entertained at this time she had sixty-one grandchildren and forty-four great-grandchildren. Two of her children are in the West and it is not known for certain how many children they have, and two of her grandchildren are known to have children, but how many is not known, The deceased united with the Methodist Episcopal church when she was but eleven years old, and although it is not certain that she continued a member continuously from that date, there is authentic record of a membership of over seventy years. She came to Hopewell about twelve years ago, and has lived there with her son ever since-----Everett Leader. A researcher did find this death notice for me several years ago ----so I have it: Source: Everett Weekly Press, October 24, 1888 Grandmother Chilicot, of Hopewell died at the residence of her son, on Wednesday last at 9 o'clock, at the ripe old age of over 92 years. She was born in 1796 and at her death was one of the most respected residents of our county. She was a consistent member of the M. E. Church and the faith she had so long espoused did not fail her when death was at hand. Her many estimable qualities are the subject of a favorable comment by all who knew her. (We regret that the partionlars (sic particular) of her early life are not in our possession.) I would guess if the Huntingdon Globe used the Everett Leader for their source then there would have been a full obituary in that paper as well only after the October 24, 1888 death notice and the date of November 1, 1888? Thank you in advance to anyone who will be able to help me!! Mary Lou

I would like to establish my lineage back from John and Mary Ann to Barthelemy La Porte of Azylum and have unverified information that a nephew of Barthelemy's had at least two children, John being the eldest and Charles the youngest. John became a wagon maker in Huntingdon County and Charles an attorney in NJ. I would appreciate anything that you may have to offer that can help corroborate this linkage.
