    2. Good morning I neglected to mention in my post that there were several Samuel Whartons in the Mifflin/Huntingdon Counties. There was a land speculator and two with sons by the name of James. The one I am looking for resided in the Shirley area. Even then I have to be careful to not confuse the land developer of Philadelphia with the farmer. Carolee California **************It's Tax Time! Nazarenno Giardini was his father and Antonia Zinobile was his mother. Antonia was the daughter of Pamfilo Zinobile, which is as far back as I am aware of right now. I'd be interested in hearing what information you have on this family further back and how exactly i'm related to both of you. Thanks! Email me at jgreenly@bucknell.edu Justin Greenly Milton, PA Here is an excerpt from a class project I did on these folks: My great-great-grandfather, Pamfilo Zinobile lived in Italy but had spent several years in Germany with his family. With a bitter lack of work in Italy and a drought, which undercut his farming abilities, came to the United States on the advice of an Italian friend (from home) who related the abundance of employment opportunities in America (the "land of the free"). He had a family at the time but came alone and then sent money for his family to come over. Pamfilo came via the Delaware, passing through Bristol, PA. He worked in the coal mines of Robertsdale, PA (where his friend lived) but developed asthma that forced him to seek work elsewhere. First, he worked in the silica brickyard near Lewistown. He then moved to Mt. Union to work in the brickyard (and got in well with the boss, who was German, since he knew the language from his time in Germany). Initially, he stayed in the company houses on Gannister Hill. Mt. Union was largely composed of Italian immigrants l! ike himself. His daughter, Antonia Zinobile, met Nazarenno Giardini in the new, large (brick) house he built on Market street since Nazarenno was a tenant there. Nazarenno was from a region of Italy that was very close to where they were from. They married. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Couch married Mary Miller as his second wife. He was born abt 1820, and his first wife was Sara Ellen Fleming. They had 3 children: John Smith Couch, Andrew L. Couch, Dr. Graffius M. Couch. William's parents I believe are Andrew Couch (who is also listed as F. Andrew) and Rebecca Green. Andrew was born in 1793 and died in 1846. Rebecca was born in 1794 and died in 1853. They were married in 1817. Andrew's parents were Edward Couch and Martha Archibald. I believe Andrew was one of seven children but I am not absolutely sure about this. Edward is recorded in a short paragraph about the history or Miller Township. I hope that helps! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
