    3. JANET, This could be very important information. Can you tell me what the source was for the tidbit below. This is important because our Joshua Brown died in 1832 and was only 67 years old. This implies that there was another, older Joshua Brown in Maddensville area. Which, could very well be a father to our Joshua Brown. Thanks so much, Kathy Wells ----- Original Message ----- From: "Janet L. 3. When my grandmother was a girl in the 1870s t here was a very favorite Dr Banks in Juniata Co. Her cousin and many other babies were given the first name of Banks in honor of the doctor. 3. Source: History of Huntingdon & Blair Counties - 1883 Springfield Township: The Baptist Church (Old School) was organized in the early part of this century. The meeting house is of logs, weather boarded and located three and a half miles north of Maddensville. This is the oldest church building in the township and is valued at two hundred dollars. There are at present twelve members connected with this organization, with the Rev. Mr. Rose as the regular pastor, preaching once a month. Happy Researching

    3. Yes, it appears that John Lamberson (a member of the Springfield Old School Baptist Church), is buried in the cemetery which the link was given for. So that would make me think the cemetery was probably the site of the Springfield church. It was a member church of the Juniata Association, which is where I obtained the few names of members I have. There are more of the minutes of that association in existence than what we have here. The most likely way I would be able to help you would be if you have a date of death for someone you believe was a member of the Old School Baptist church, I could check (when time permits) for an obituary in the Signs of the Times (of which we have a nearly complete set from 1832 to the present). 3. Thank you Theresa and Mike Horton for the URL to the Old School Bapt. Cemetery. That was very interesting and I did find some of my people there. Do you all know where the records of the church are from the early 1800s? I'm also looking for births, etc. I am working on the Brown family that was from that area. thanks a bunch, Kathy Wells. 1. MATTER(N) abt 1780
    2. Hal Laube
    3. From other researchers I have : George MATTERN( vs sp) son of Hans Adtam MATTER. Lived in Lancaster County, Penn., for about a year after their marriage. In 1765 they moved to the new community of Elizabethtown, Maryland. Elizabethtown was shortly there after renamed Hagerstown, Maryland. In 1779 or 1780 George bought 300 Acres of wild land in Franklin Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania and sent his three sons there to build a log cabin. In 1780 he secured the deed to the land, and in the spring of 1781 his family packed their wagons and moved from Maryland to their new home in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. The cabin stood near where afterwards was the "Seven Stars" Church. The building was a large log house used as a Tavern for many years. It was demolished in 1866. They lived and died in Franklin Township - they had ten children and most of them are buried there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My question: Was George MATTER and wife Anna who had son Adam born 1817 in Mannheim Township from this line?
