    3. Warren - I forgot to say that the Township and the County changed from time to time. If I am remembering right - Shirley began as Dublin Twp., Bedford Co. Huntingdon became a county in 1787. Linda

    3. Warren - I have looked at microfilm at my Family History Center. You should be able to order them on microfilm and look at them at your local Family History Center, too. You can find them in the library catalogue at www.familysearch.org You can also find out where the nearest FHC to you is. There may be other places you can view them, too - but this is how I did it. 3. from Steve Kemp. The only thing I would add to these comments is that Aitch, PA 16610 had a quite long rural delivery route, though I don't know how early it was put on. In the 1960s, Aitch R. D. extended into both Hopewell and Todd Townships. The Army Corps of Engineers took all the property in the village when they flooded the Raystown valley in the 1970s with their new high dam. The area of the former village is now a boat launch and parking lot.

Surnames: CRAIG, WILSON, WHITE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZdB.2ACI/2634.1.1 Message Board Post: I don't exactly know the location. All I have are the listings from the 1850 Barree Twp. census. Listed under the first column titled "Dwelling-houses numbered in the order of visitation" William and Mary Ann are number 215. Also, a John and Barbara Craig are listed at number 209. I believe that John was a direct relative, a nephew of my William. I have no proof of this. There is also a Horatio White listed as number 208 which could quite possibly be the parents or close relatives of John's wife Barbara as her maiden name was White. I only have a handful more of the local names and family members as I only kept the info pertaining to my own family search. Hope this helps a little. The remaining names and numbers are as follows: #207-Frank and Margaret Wolf; #214-John and Nancy Locha(3 letters unintelligle): #216-James and Rachel (Cannot make out last name- could quite possibly be Wood - could also start with a W !!! I really have no idea). If the Craig names do! ring any bells please contact me. There was a son of William and MaryAnn, George, who stayed in Huntingdon County after his parents death. He was married to a Julia Wilson. Barb

    1. [PAHUNTIN] Federal Legislation on Social Secutiy Numbers
    2. I received this from a friend (Iris Jones) who is part of the CSGA Legislative watch. This is something we all need to take action on. It is FEDERAL and will affect all of us, no matter where we research! Janice Ramsey Lear FEDERAL LEGISLATION - A CALL TO ACTION At the federal level there are two bills on privacy and the use of Social Security Numbers working their way through the system. They are call the Social Security Misuse Prevention Act. Granted, the misuse of Social Security Numbers has gone on much too long, but as the bills are worded it could spell the end of the Social Security Death Indexes. Even if they were to exempt the present Death Indexes, no further indexes could be developed. The Utah Genealogical Society has worked to get the authors to amend the bill to protect the continued availability of the death indexes, but so far there have been no amendments. It is time for the genealogy community to let Washington know how we feel. We want people's privacy protected but we do not want to see this very important historical research tool lost forever. It is important to thousands of genealogists and family health historians. We ask that make the following amendments in S228 and HR637: 1. Under Sec. 3 (a)(1)(a) DEFINITIONS, add the following definition: "SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER - The term 'social security number' refers to the social security number of a living individual." 2. Under Sec. 4 (a)(1)(e)(2) LIST OF PAPER AND OTHER NONELECTRONIC RECORDS, delete "(D) death certificates." You can contact the authors: S228 Senator Dianne Feinstein 331 Hart Senate Office Bldg. 3. Sorry I'm so slow in answering your email. I overlooked it when going down the line. Now I'm backtracking over the 522 emails still waiting. Where do you live? Our hist soc library here in Bedford has some Gibson information and I'm sure either or both Blair and Huntingdon would. I don't think my neighbor ever got back to the Robert, Rev War Vet, but I imagine the line does go back to him. I would write to the Blair Co Gen'l Soc, Hollidaysburg and the Hunt Co Hist Soc in Huntingdon and ask what they have. It would cost you $50 to find out what is here in Bedford. We have an excellent researcher here who does a great job, but I just feel that there is that much to find. I tried to help my elderly neighbor. I could check the file on Gibson when I am in the library but I can't do any research at present. I'll be there tomorrow if you can get back to me with definite info to look up.
