    3. Hello Jackie, Only three MORRISes are indexed as head of household at the 1860 census of Huntingdon county, PA: Evan Morris, ae 32 James Morris, ae 47 Job Morris, ae 54 ... and four MORRISes are indexed as head of household at the 1870 census of Huntingdon county: Alex C. Morris, ae 35 John Morris, ae 30 John Morris, ae 26 William Morris, ae 24 In the entire state of Pennsylvania at the 1860 census, there were three men indexed as head of household of the name "Jacob Morris." These men were in Greene, Lycoming and Mercer counties, respectively; none had a wife named Harriet (or variant of that name). In the entire state of Pennsylvania at the 1870 census, there were eight men indexed as head of household of the name "Jacob Morris." These men were in Berks (1), Greene (1), Mercer (2), Northampton (1) and Philadelphia (3) counties. I did not have time to examine each census record to see if one of them had a wife named Harriet (or variant thereof). 3. Gayle, I checked Mooresville cemetery, which is in West twp. and neither Thomas nor Rachel are there. I also checked "Lost and Forgotten Cemeteries of Huntingdon county" and they are not listed there. Checked Manor Hill cemetery (Barree twp.) and they aren't there. The following might be of help: George Wilson Came after the Revolution, also an Irishman and located on the James Walls place, dying there. His son Robert moved to Centre County, David moved to Clearfield County, James died in the township without issue, George (the youngest) died in Logan on the old Armstrong place in 1873. He was married to Jane Reed, and was the father of George W. Wilson, occupying the homestead. A daughter married W.L. Armstrong. The daughters of George Wilson Sr. were married to members if the Stewart, Porter and McClellan families. That is from Pioneers of Logan Township at http://www.rootsweb.com/~pahuntin/townships/logan/pioneers.htm Also, check out http://www.rootsweb.com/~pahuntin/townships/barree/hist-barree.htm and http://www.rootsweb.com/~pahuntin/1793barree.html That should help you out. 3. I want to thank Ken Murtiff for his generous offer to help in the repair of the damaged stones in Riverview. The mayor is elated at the offer. He voiced his heartfelt thanks for to Mr. Murtiff. At the mayor's request, I am taking the proposal to borough council on Tuesday evening and also presenting to them information of the means I have taken in an attempt to procure funds for the repairs. I am hopeful that there will be many more respond both from our mailing list as well as others who have concerns about seeing the stones repaired. In speaking to the mayor this afternoon, he clarified how checks are to be sent in order to be eligible as a tax deduction for contributors. Checks should be made payable to "Huntingdon Borough" and on the memo line you'll need to put "Riverview Cemetery Repair Project." Again, the mailing address is: Huntingdon Borough 530 Washington St. Huntingdon, PA 16652 Thanks to all for your help. It is sad to hear what happened recently to the cemetery. My brother has sent me a e-mail showing the original mailing. I know alot of you can relate to the issue through all of our travels in researching families that some cemeteries no longer are upkept or cared enough about for someone to respect those of our ancestors. My research has taken me to Huntingdon county on many instances and so forth. And for the reasons above mentioned I have a heartfelt sadness in why anyone would do such a thing. Anyways I'll cut through the long wind. Through my own employment for the past 15 years my experience in natural stone has put me in a status as a Marble Mason and my work experience is in Custom work for all stone. I am willing to devote time to repair those pieces of markers out of total respect for our history and so forth. And this said I challenge anyone to unite with me to offer this as a good gesture , respect and to do good for our communities. For those who can contact me to be able to arrange with me contacts with the borough and that to be able to go in and start repairs. Please contact me ASAP to let me know. I spent some time transcribing a will (from FHC microfilm) of my ancestor James Lee and an "Ebon Willson" is one of the recipients named. No relationship is mentioned. I know I've seen Evan Wilson near my ancestors in censuses. The rest of the spelling in the will was *creative* so I can easily see that Ebon could be Evan. Anyway, thought I'd mention it since normally one doesn't know about their ancestors' appearances in other people's wills. Patti mailto:historymom@att.net

My Norris line came from Wayne Co., OH to Hancock Co., OH and then to Fulton Co., IN. I've always been told that the Kos. Co. Norris line may be distantly related but I've made no connection, assumed to be in PA before 1800. My Wayne Co., OH Joseph Norris came there about 1814 where he first recorded land. Records say he was then a resident of nearby Richland Co., OH. Joseph married Margaret KEARNS/CARNS in Westmoreland Co., PA 1804. An 1896 Fulton Co., IN bio of Joseph's grandson, Noah Anthony Wayne Norris, says that Joseph's father was a William Norris of PA. I estimate his birth as about 1755. Same bio goes on to say the next acestor was another Joseph Norris was one of three brothers coming from Scotland...who settled first in New England. I estimate this Joseph's birth to be about 1733. I have no knowledge of any other brothers, but it seems that there may be a tie to the Hu! ntingdon Co., PA line. Any ideas or data appreciated. Also, I'd be happy to share my extensive data on the Joseph Norris line and would like to review data from others who have proven links from Huntingdon Co. to Kosciusko Co. BTW my line also includes a George Washington Norris who migrated to NE....have extensive data. This line has an old story that there is also a distant relationship to George William Norris, famous NE US Senator, born in Sandusky, OH to Chauncey Norris. Chauncey's parents are, according to the Senator's autobio, from Connecticut where they died leaving Chauncey and sisters to be moved as orphans to NY where I've found part of them in Monroe Co., NY....but that's a whole other quest! Please note current email is: norrisd@adelphia.net Thanks to all, Dave Norris in VA Born Fulton Co., IN 1947
