I still work for the baseball team. I have been very busy with that and trying to raise five children. Genealogy has taken a back burner. I would be very interested in getting a copy of that 1883 book on Huntindon County. Do you know where I might get one? Also I would like a copy of the newspaper articles you mentioned about George Albert Mears, spouse (Alvaretta Flessner), death, and anything on his parnents, grand parents, and siblings.
Margie, several years ago I xeroxed warrants and survey maps from our courthouse here in Bedford. I got a big laugh out of the name Roop because they had surveys or warrants for every member of the family and there were so many of them. If I remember correctly all the land was in Southampton Co in the very south of Bedford Co. If you look at the Pioneer hist. Soc webpage they have a look-up service which might give you a complete list of all the Roops among those xeroxes. Well my ggggrandmother was a mountain. I know she was from Huntingdon Co. and that's all I know. I'm trying to find out as much as I about the families there so maybe I can figure out how she fits into them. She was Mary Mountain. There was a Hugh Mountain there in the early 1800's that was old enough to be her father. There were other Mountain's there as well. So if you don't mind sharing I'd love to gather some puzzle pieces. Does anyone have marriage records in the 1800-1820 time frame? I'm looking for a record for David Shaver and Mary. I think there were probably married around 1820. Thanks, Melissa
Does anyone know how to tell the date the person died when you're looking at one of those wills.
