DONNA: You will have a tough search. Fulton name fairly common & was early 1700's in Lancaster Co. area PA. Later some families left Lancaster and went to Frederick Co., Maryland. Then around 1800 - 1820 many families by various surnames went from Maryland to Huntingdon Co. Some went "west". Morris

Hi, does anyone of you have a link into the family of John Edward Diehl? I would be especially interested in his wife Mary E. Schirm. Here is the obit from 4/1/1954 (thanks to Annie): ------------------------- John Edward Diehl Of 2200 Adams avenue, Tyrone, died at 10:45 o'clock last night at Mercy hospital following an illness of four days. Mr. Diehl was born March 22, 1891, in Tyrone, a son of Joseph and Annie (Schell) Diehl. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary E. Schirm; two daughters and three sons, Miss Kathryn J. and Miss Larue, at home; Robert A. of Tyrone, Pic. Thomas R. in Korea and Sgt. David at Fort Bragg, N.C., and two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Nearhoof of Erie and Miss Alma of Altoona. Employed at the Westvaco mill at Tryone, Mr. Diehl was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic church and Tyrone Moose lodge. ------------------------- >From the phone directory it looks like, that there are still Diehl's living at that place. Any help would be highly appreciated. Mary (Schirm) Diehl could be the daughter of David Schirm and Regina Zeilinger, born in May 1889. Bill, Hello, I wish I knew... I am stuck on Henry Barrick born 1835 in PA according to 1880 census. He had at least one son, John A. age 18 born PA on the 1880 census in Polk City, Polk, IA. I know he married in 1868 to Margaret Lawrence nee Fagan who was married to a ???? Lawrence and had at least 2 children prior to her marriage to Henry Barrick. Margaret died in 1880 and I have been able to locate him since or before. Margaret Fagan d/o John Fagan was from Barre, Huntington, PA. then moved to Ohio before coming to Iowa. Also in Polk City, Polk was John Barrick born 1825 (married to Jemima Grigby -Barrick/Coffman/Dickey-married 3 times, buried all of her husbands). John Barrick was born Illinois where he and Jemima Grigsby were married and his father was Henry Barrick born Ohio, Licking Co. I believe this Barrick goes back to the Barrick/Berg Book that everyone is talking about. I feel there is a connection but, none of us Barrick researchers from the Iowa/Oregon union of Margaret Fagan and Henry Barrick can find anything. After Margaret died young...the family was farmed out or married young. Some of them went to Oregon, others stayed in Iowa. I can not find anything on John A. Barrick born abt. 1862 or Breckenridge Lawrence born abt. 1862 or Denorbis Lawrence born abt. 1868. One bible list brothers...Norbis ....and father Harst....we have proven the Harst as incorrect through marriage records/deathrecords/and census. Wish I could help, I will put you email into my search file and watch for you in my search. I hope you will keep an eye open for mine too. Thank you, Jeannette
Hi Jeannette, I am wondering if you have a BARRICK who married Ruth Bertha RINKER some time in the 20's +- in Huntingdon Co. His nickname was Chub, they had either 1 or 2 children together. I don't know what happened to him but, Ruth remarried Harry Cisney. Thanks Bill
Hello Barb, Rutter can be found in the German phone directory. I have found entries all over the country. Saxony was a former Kingdom on the eastern part of Germany close to Poland. I would guess they have been Lutheran, but can't say it for sure. Debbie - Thanks for this. I think that the person was obviously motivated by a desire to help - he had nothing else to gain. I don't think he or she probably considered it stealing. It is too bad that we all can't have access to these sites. The demand is certainly there. Our local library does not offer these services - and I doubt they will because of the wide availability genealogy materials in this valley. I was able to use it one day. If this was just for a restricted area they should have mentioned it, or only made it available in a certain area. I am lucky in that my local library has access to this, I just have to use it there. PS I think Ancestry use to be free (about two years ago) and they put five new books on line every week and that was great. It may have been something else entirely. Lets all submit as much as we can to usgenweb.com as it IS free and has some good info on it. Varies by state, county according to what has been submitted. In regard to the "free access" through a library site, it is not at all free. Some time ago, a similar message made its rounds and the result was the same as it was this time. Libraries (not sure if all) are given free access to particular sites from computers within their research areas. Usually a generic user id and password are required to access the site which designates where access is being made from. In most cases, limits are set on the amount of visitors from each library. Once that quota has been reached, access is terminated. That's one scenario. Another is the quota is reached and the library is billed for access to the pay site for the number of visits over the offered quota. Most libraries simply discontinue access rather than pay for access. Particularly at this time (at least in PA) libraries are really struggling. It would be a shame to have libraries billed for services that they are providing and have no knowledge if providing. If everybody keeps in mind that nothing in life is free, it will sure help ease the financial strains on libraries. No, most libraries limit participation to their own cardholders. You have to have a library card with that library and the cardholder's number allows you to access the data base. norma <norma@sheltonbbs.com> wrote:I am beginning to think this may be a hoax.
