I was searching for a Jane Beatty in the Mt. Nebo cemetery north of Shirleysburg. It seems that Jane Beatty was married to Thomas Moreland first and is the mother of Mary Jane Moreland Miller. I found Jane Beaty's will (prob. 1907) telling that her deceased daughter, Mary Jane, had been married to Isaac Miller and was the mother of Clara Miller, b. 1860; m. Jacob Bollinger. Mary Jane Moreland Miller (1830 - 1862) and her son, Thomas Miller, (d. 1858), and possibly another child are buried in the Nebo cemetery. The stones were very hard to read but nevertheless, there they were. Jane Beatty's second husband, Thomas Beatty, is buried there, also, but I couldn't find Jane's grave. I think it's a case of missing tombstone. The graves are all in a row, and there are obviously more graves. THis is the United Brethren church cemetery. The church is no longer in use. Isaac Miller's second wife was Roseanna Snyder. Her parents were Simon Snyder and Elizabeth Beaty. Eli! zabeth's parents were John and Catherine Booher Beatty. This sounds like a lot of confusion, but if anyone can shed any light on any of these people, I would be most grateful. I'm particularly interested to know if there is a connection between Thomas Beaty/Beatty and Elizabeth Beaty, mother of Roseanna Snyder & wife of Simon Snyder. Nancy Miller Lorz

Hello List members, As Thanksgiving will soon be here as a fellow genealogy bug, I would like to take this time to Wish everyone a blessed Thanksgiving. One to reflect of the goodness that we have received throughout the year as well as how each one has made a positive impact on others. I for one am thankfull for the opportunity that I had this year to meet and make friends through unfortunate situations as well not to forget that there are those of you who have shown of what giving is. I have many things to be greatful for no matter how big or small they may be. While spending the Thanksgiving Holiday with family I will reflect on those as well as all who have suffered as a result of war , as well as those who may not be as fortunate as most and give some time to think of them as well. My Thanksgiving Holidays for the most part are at home with My wife and three children with time later to visit relatives. This year we have decided to combine our dinner with my mother and siblings to be able to give what normally would have been our dinner at home to the local food shelter during these cold days to provide a dinner for a couple of people who for cirumstances of their own may atleast for one time this year enjoy something that alot of people take for granted and never give second thought to. If I can atleast touch a person and atleast provide a little comfort for them then I know that I'm giving to some small degree a piece of what my ancestors have giving to me , all of our ancestors. Freedoms , opportunities as well as strong foundations. We reap today of sacrifices of yesterday and for that I can be extremely greatful for that. May all of you have a blessed and pleasant Thanksgiving. Hello Fellow Listers: Could someone please check or transcribe for me, the BAKER information on the following pages of the 1850 Huntington Co., PA. Census? Page 18 and Page 137 I'm attempting to find the following on the 1850 Census - somewhere in Pennsylvania: David H. BAKER (b.ca.Aug-1817 in PA. d.9-Nov-1872 in Kansas) md. ca.1843 in Pennsylvania to Emma _____ (b.ca.1821 in PA.) and had the following children (as of the 1860 Breckenridge Co., Kansas Census) [note: all children also born in Pennsylvania]: Kate (b.ca.1844) Alice J. (b.ca.1847) Kirk Haines (b.ca.1849) Emily (b.ca.1852) Louis C. (b.ca.1854) David H. had a brother who was know only as M. M. BAKER (b.ca.1825 in Pennsylvania) who was also living with his brother in 1860. It was found on a Military Enlistment record that David H. BAKER's "nativity" was Perry County, Pennsylvania but exhaustive research at The Perry Historians Library in the Perry Co. section finds no record of him. Thanks in advance for any help! Donna HELLER ZINN of Newville, Cumberland Co., PA.
Huntingdon County land records and some (possibly all existing) tax records are rentable on microfilm at LDS Family History Centers. For a description of what they have available, go to http://www.familysearch.org and click on Family History Library Catalog, then Place Search. When the Place Search page appears, type "Huntingdon" in the "Place" search field, and in the "Part of (optional)" field type "Pennsylvania". On the next page, click the highlighted "Pennsylvania, Huntingdon" and on the page after that click either "Pennsylvania, Huntingdon - Taxation" or "Pennsylvania, Huntingdon - Land and Property". To find where your nearest Family History Center is, see http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp .
