Isett, who was born in 1813 near Marklesburg in Huntingdon County, PA. His parents were Mr. Isett and Elizabeth. Elizabeth's maiden name is unknown. In April of 1820, his mother Elizabeth filed for a legal guardian for James in the Huntingdon County Courts. She said that his father had absconded to parts unknown to her. Elizabeth filed as Elizabeth Matthew, so sometime between 1813 and 1820 she remarried to a Matthew. As far as I know, James was her only child to Mr. Isett. Thomas Lloyd was appointed legal guardian of James. I suspect that Mr. Lloyd or his wife was most likely a relative of Elizabeth's. James was then bound out to a farmer named Moore. It is possilbe that Mr. Moore and Thomas Lloyd were relatives as well. In 1836, James Isett married Elizabeth Garner, daughter of Matthew Garner, and they raised a large family in Marklesburg. I am looking for more information on James K. Isett, his father Mr. Isett, his mother Elizabeth Unknown, his step-father Mr. Matthew, his guardian Thomas Lloyd, and the farmer Mr. Moore.

>from Steve Kemp from Africa's HISTORY Broad Top City was laid out in 1854 on the Miles Cook farm in Todd Township. In 1858 that section of Todd containing Broad Top Mountain was made into a new township named Carbon. In 1868, BTC was incorporated as a borough. (It now borders Carbon and Wood Townships.) Hi all, I'm looking at another of the children of William WATERS & Katie STILLWELL as outlined in "The Waters Family" article that was written by S.D. Caldwell and published on the front page of the Mount Union Times, 22 March 1907. The article mentions their sixth child, Abbie Waters [b. ca. 1790] who "married John WARD, who lived on the Mathias Shoop farm first owned by Thomas Murphy. Ward was his step-son. John hanged himself and is buried in the Shade Gap Presbyterian cemetery. When the writer was a small boy he remembers peering curiously through a fence whoich was said to enclose the grave of John Ward, the suicide. There are so many now-adays who prefer that way of going that their graves are no curiosity any more, and they do not take the trouble to fence them up. Questions: 1.) Does this fence-in grave still exist at the Shade Gap Presbyterian Church cemetery? 2.) Are their any WARD researchers who have John in their data? I'd love to hear from any of you who have stray WATERS/WATTERS in Huntingdon or Blair counties. Kathryn Doyle Piedmont, CA
