He had a son, Isaac Morris, who was probably born in the 1770s or 1780s (not sure when) in New Jersey, in Greene Co., PA (or someplace between). Isaac married Mary Lynch or Mary Polly Wood or ?? in 1812 in Guernsey Co., OH. Isaac and his wife (or wives) had several children including (but not necessarily limited to): Nancy Morris, b. Jan 7 1811 (who married a cousin, Elijah Morris in 1830) Mary Ann Morris, Jane Morris, b. 1814 (who also married a cousin, Richard G. Morris bef 1833) Looking at the U.S. Census for Washington and Greene Cos., PA, we find the following: The 1790 census for Washington Co., PA (which included Greene Co. at the time) lists an Isaac Morris (p. 29) as head of household with 1 free white male of 16 or more; 2 males under 16; and 4 females. Could this be our Isaac? The 1800 census for East Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co. lists an Isaac Morris. In the household are 4 free white males under 10; 1 between 10 and 15; and 1 over 45. There are 3 free white females in the household: 1 under 10; 1 between 15 and 25; and 1between 26 and 44. The 1810 census for East Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., PA (p. 4) lists a household headed by an Isaac Morris and containing 11 people. There are 2 free white males under 10; 3 males between 10 and 15; 1 between 16 and 25; and 1 over 45. There are 2 free white females under 10; 1 between 10 and 15; and 1 between 26 and 44. Could not identify an Isaac Morris in Washington or Greene Cos. in 1820. Could Isaac have been in Ohio getting married then? In 1830, things really start to get confused because there are two Isaac Morrises in East Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., PA. Page 9 lists an Isaac Morris with a household consisting of 1free white male under 5; 1 between 5 and 10; 1 between 20 and 30; 1 between 30 and 40; and 1 between 70 and 80. There is only 1 free white female in the household and she is between 60 and 70. The second Isaac Morris household is found on p. 11 and consists of 1 free white male between 5 and 10; 1 between 15 and 20; 1 between 30 and 40; and 1 over 100. There 1 free white female between 5 and 10; and 1 between 40 and 50. The closest I could come in 1840 was a household consisting of two females with one of them named E. Morris. And no one in 1850. Can anyone suggest other sources which might cast some light on this Isaac Morris? Willing to share information.
