Hi Carole, Mrs. Charity Axtell, (col'd)...appears in the Waynesburg Business Directory, Caldwell's Atlas, 1876...Greene County. One particular Charity Iams married Silas Axtell. Members of the Axtell family were Preachers in Washington Co. It is possible the Axtell's were URR and Charuty Iams a free person of color? I am still researching my theory on Charity Iams. And I believe there may be several Charity Iams. In Greene and Washington Counties. Also listed In Caldwell's is: Mrs. R. Clevinger. (col'd). Another mystery.
