"Thomas Jefferson Evans was a school director and went to supervise a 'box social" at one of the Springhill Twp. schools in Greene County, Pa. The Jobes brothers were rowdy and he settled them down. They left and went out the ridge where he would be going home in his buggy. A huge rock was thrown at him and struck him in the head. He lived a couple days but died [March 14, 1878] as a result of the head injury." Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
