Has anyone transcribed the original marker of Benjamin South, as it is illegible in the photographs. I believe I see enough inscription to possibly transcribe. The military marker is definitely a granite replacement. The very old stones tended to be marble or worse, limestone. But I would venture to say that the military stone was placed by an organization since it does not bear any resemblance to those issued by the Veterans Administration. Many times local DAR chapters placed markers such as these. And I have had another response to this thread (as well as another response placed on another board); this response may clear up the confusion (my apologies) regarding Stone House cemetery.
