Maybe some people here can brainstorm with me? If I have those 6 to 10 families whom I think came from NJ, and knowing that at least one or two said they came from NJ, and that Morris and Somerset are just as likely to be the right counties as anywhere else in NJ, then HOW would you start to research for any of those families if you had NO first names for anyone in the generation you are seeking? The ONLY other clue was a family came from near Amwell, NJ. ALL these families came to Washington County PA near or before 1800... but since I don't know "when" then a time frame is a shot in the dark too. So, how would YOU begin if ALL your brick walls on ALL families going backward are in Washington Co PA around 1790 to 1810, and your only clue before that is "New Jersey"?? I do know John ANTHONY b. about 1810 says on Census he was born in Maryland. I do know John LANE Sr b. about 1780 lived in (abt 1794) and was married 1795 Frederick Co MD.
