When John came to the USA, it appears that his spelling of his last name was changed, like so many that came here. It is said that he, his brother and John's two young sons came here at the same time so the legend goes. McClumpha. Have had several cousins go to Ireland and there is no McGlumphy; phrey; phry; or phey; spellings. But they do pronouce their words a bit differently then we do.
