PETER FOX. of Perry Township, died rather suddenly at his home Saturday evening April 8, 1899, of neuralgia of the heart aged almost 74 years, Mr. Fox was a quiet, peace-loving citizen who always managed to attend to his own affairs and left his neighbors in the enjoyment of the same privilege. In early life he united in matrimony with SARA WHITE, a sister of Ex-Commissioner HIRAM WHITE. The aged wife and eight children survive viz: Bazil, of Dunkard Tpwnship; Christopher, Shriver, Henry, Mrs. Mazy Ritter, Mrs. Jane Hite, Mrs. Sude Fox and Miss Catherine, all of Perry Township. Deceased was a brother: Dennis Fox and John Fox, and Mrs. Nancy John, of Kirby, and Mrs Barbara Haines and Mrs. Sarah Haines, of Wadetown, W. Va. The funeral was conducted Monday. Interment at Newtown. Additional information I have discovered from 3/6/00 from Jim Hoy JOSEPH FOX, who married JENCY WILSON and PETER FOX who married a MARY THOMAS. Both men were Rev. War Vets and at first thought they were brothers as is indicated by Roland Dulaney Furlong in his book. Peter Fox had not named Joseph in his will. In a relatively new book titled "Joseph Fox and his descendants and Related Families" Charles Fox details some specifics which relatively sure that Joseph's father was Issac Fox, not John Peter Fox (Fuches) Recommend the Joseph Fox Book for those who are serious about Greene Co., Pa, Genealogy. Here are the points that are made on page 7 of "JOSEPH FOX and his descendants and Related Families" by CHARLES FOX. 1) Joseph Fox was not mentioned in the will of John Peter Fox. 2) The Pension Application of Elizabeth Fox, d/o Joseph Fox. A letter from the U.S. Government concerning the application showed that Elizabeth, at the conclusion of her statement listed beneath her name, the names of Isaac Fox, b. 14 Mar. 1723 & Rebecca Fox, b. 5 Apr. 1725. There was no explanation as to who they were however, they are the correct age to be the parents of Joseph Fox, Also Joseph and Jane had a son names Isaac and a daughter named Rebecca. 3) A letter from David K. Fox (descendant of Peter Fox) to Andrew J. Waychoff, Greene County, Pa., Historian, in 1922, stated that Henry (son of Peter Fox) and John (son of Joseph Fox) were not related. He said that the Peter Fox family was of Germany descent and Joseph Fox was of English descent. 4) A letter from Franklin Pierce Fox saying that his ggg grandfather came to the U.S. from England with no mention of Germany. 5) The marriage license for Grant Fox (descendant of Joseph) and Susanna Fox (descendant of Peter Fox) indicated that there was no relation between the two Fox's. 6) John Fox (son of Joseph Fox) married Catherine Fox (dau. of Peter Fox) They would have been first cousins, which is not uncommon, even in the 1800's. Also found some written notes for: MARY FOX m. BASIL WHITE Dec. 16, 1849 in Greene Co., Pa. Mary Fox, b. May 22, 1829, her parents were: Peter Fox & Mary Delaney. Children were: Dennis, dec. Sarah, dec. Mary J. dec. Pernina, dec. Elizabeth Little CARPE DIEM, Lori ; ) in Arizona formally from Washington, Pa.
