    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: daipdq Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.greene/8126.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I don't have all the info on this family line and I do not know Mary's maiden name. George was the son of Ezekiel Calvert b 1777 Chester m Rhoda Debolt. Ezekiel was the son of Isaac Calvert b c1747/8 who m1 Elizabeth Gart at Newcastle Co DE, 1768 Old Swede's Church and then married and 2nd, Fanny Bullitt(sic). Ezekiel's older brother, Thomas b1769 - my ancestor. We have shown, via the DNA project that this family is kin to Calverts who descend from John Calvert b c1742 who m2? the widow Mercer, Jane Swayne. Further investigation shows DNA match with descendants of John Calvert b 1689 m Jane McMahan in two different lines. The DNA project has matched participants in the line of Thomas Calvert b 1717 m Sarah Williamson -- 37x37 exact matches for the descendants of Isaac and John Calvert). This then is matched by two succinct lines of John Calvert b 1689 who married Jane McMahan -- 36x37 - We used two different sons of JohN Calvert b 1689 to establish DNA proof at this level, Elisha being one of the two lines. These two lines then, match the two lines of Thomas Calvert, -1 at 37 markers absolutely showing common ancestry, which means that Thomas Calvert b c 1717 m Sarah Williamson in 1739. His father was Joshua b 1680 arrived with his father John at Newcastle Co DE and settled in PA, older brother of John Calvert b 1648 m Judith Stamper and married at Stranmillis, County Armagh, IR. DNA shows that the two family lines are of the same ancestor and match, -1 on a volatile marker(more subject to mutation than others) from John Calvert to present day, living Calverts -- either 11 or 12 generations of descent in both lines from John Calvert and Judith Stamper. The problem with which we were faced: Secondary documentation only with one line or the other. For example, we cannot prove with primary source documentation, that Isaac b c 1747/8 of Chester County PA, is the same Isaac that appears in Washington County PA in 1793 in a tax list. We know that Isaac is in Chester in 1790 and not after(according to found public records). But using several secondary sources, family history and family bibles we can demonstrate to a degree of certainty, perhaps 95-98 percent, that the descent is correct. When we add the DNA evidence, We are showing 99%(less than 100%) certainty or above that the research data is correct. Adding the research of three other lines to that of Isaac's line, addes to the criteria and granularity of data. Adding the DNA from the other separate lines adds to the certainty of the DNA evidence. Still, not 100% proof positive but enough to write a book about it. Here is what we know further: Thomas Calvert b c 1717 m Sarah Williamson 1739 at Chester Co, PA. my line is: Joshua Calvert b 1680 County Armagh, m DEborah Harlan in Newcastle Co DE. Another line, same generational level is: John Calvert b 1689 m Jane McMahan(John was b probably in DE but I am not certain of this). Joshua and John were sons of: John Calvert b1648 m Judith Stamper County Armagh IR. they removed with family to DE and then into Chester Co PA. John c1698/9 though a record identifies him in court 1702. He and wife were members of the Quaker faith but at some time broke with it. At the time of John's death, Judith had been a member of the first methodism group in the area. John Calvert b 1648 was the son of: Thomas Calvert b 1617 at Lurgan, County Armah according to Quaker MM Records. m Jane Glassford. John Calvert b 1580 circa m 1600 Yorkshire(no marriage record found) and removed to County Armagh Ireland before 1617 and is buried at the friends Cemtery there thus died after 1655 as this is the time the Friends established in the Ulster Plantation. He was said to be the brother or cousin of George Calvert, First Lord Baltimore. He m Grace [--?--] as proven by Friends records as is proved his son Thomas. However, the DNA of this line is Haplotype I which is Nordic(but originating in the Iberian penninsula oddly enough, I3a. The Descendants of George Calvert first Lord Baltimore via either William b c 1641 or Benedict of Mt. Airy, are Haplotype R1b1 and cannot match the descendants of the Calverts who were Quaker, ostensibly in 10,000 years. Be that as it may, one would not expect Haplotype R1b1 from descendants of George if as was recorded, he was a gent of descent of Flanders(as he was introduced this way to the Court of King James). Obviously then, there is a good possibility, one way or the other, for the genetic bloodline to have been tainted, by accident of birth, adoption or birth by liaison -- My point is that it remains possible for John of Yorkshire c 1580 to indeed have been brother to George c 1579 of Yorks. The DNA project moves on. Back to Ezekiel Calvert, b 1777 m Rhoda Debolt. We have Ezekiel's family line and a member of the research group descends from him. There is a family bible which establishes the record of the children of the family, of which George is son: Here is a brief of what I know about George's family. You can help me fill in blanks and correct errors. The date of this data is 04 May 2006 and changes may have been made which are more thoroughly researched or have been added to. if you need, feel free to contact me [email protected] regarding any of this material and supporting evidence. We continue to enlist participant Male Calverts of all of the family lines -- it adds to the granularity of the research and scientific construct of data. The number of participants for this family line is now 15 DNA contributors. If you can illuminate further on the descent of George or Benjamin, or add anything to the siblings of George let me know. I have not had time to pursue further Ezekiel's descent. See below, David ====================================================================================================================== 1.
