Author: trouble4me56 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.greene/11117.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: You need to check http://home.comcast.net/~/janslater/site/?/home/ I believe she has the best information on the Adams family from Greene County, Pennsylvania. My family ties go back to Greene County as well. Denton Adams (different from yours)>Francis B Adams>Ulysses Grant Adams>Mary Ellen Adams, who was my father's mother. These families were bi-racial and married in and out of the family. From what I have learned from Jan there were about 13 families of mixed race living in Greene County, Pennsylvania in the 1800's. My Denton Adams shows up briefly and then is gone. We believe his wife was Lydia Danes (Dains). Their son Francis B moved to Marshall County, West Virginia where he is listed on the Census as being mulatto. Ulysses is also listed in the Marshall County Census as being mulatto but then he moved to Calhoun County, West Virginia. When he arrived in Calhoun County he was far enough away from Greene County that he was able to be listed as white on the next! Census, as was Francis B. It appears that because of racial tensions they began to move from Greene County out west. You should take a look at her website and contact her if you need to. She is a wonderful person and has been working on the Adam's genealogy for years. 2. Howard Hickman
    3. Karen, Yes, indeed, the Renner Cemetery in Perry Twp has been remarkedly restored. When I visited 10 years ago, it was completely overgrown. When I visited last summer, it was fantastic. The work has been done by the new owner of the property, who lives in the house just south of the Cemetery. He even uncovered a few buried markers that were not recorded by the Hennens in the 1970s. I met the owner and thanked him. I told them that he should let the Cornerstone Genealogical Society know about his findings, but he is just too modest. 3. There are two Blacksville's...one is in Pennsylvania and the other is in West Virginia. They are separated by the Mason-Dixon Line. Please correct if I am in error. There are two Blacksville Cemeteries: >From Hennen's Cemetery Records: The New Blacksville Cemetery, Wayne Township...Located at eastern end of the village of Blacksville, slightly north from Dunkard Creek. The New Blacksville Cemetery, Wayne Township...Located along Route 218, just before reaching state line, at the north edge of Blacksville, W. V. Listings for both cemeteries are in Hennen's Cemetery Books, which are available at Cornerstone Gen Society in Waynesburg. I have a copy and can do lookups but it could take a little time depending on how many. Please do let me know. 1. [PAGRE] Looking for information about John Reece of Waynesburg, c mid 1800's
    2. Does anyone have information on John Reece or a variation of that spelling?  John was married to Elizabeth (?) Dripps.  Eliz was the daughter of John and Nancy Agnes Stewart Dripps who lived in Franklin Twp between 1798 and 1830, John died about 1816.  It is possible that Eliz's mother may have lived with them before her death.  Would like to try and locate where they are buried and if the mother could be buried in the same  place.  Thanks,   Tom Chrisman

F. Craig Hello, I know it has been awhile since I've been in touch, but I stumbled onto something that may interest you. I was answering an inquiry for Green Mount and saw "Ann Craig" in a list of graves that are nearly all, if not all, unmarked. The entry is vague. It is for a "removal" which means a grave brought into or "removed to" Green Mount. The term is misleading because most would read it as one taken out of Green Mount, but in nearly all cases it actually means one brought to Green Mount. The date of November 1892 is listed for removal as well as death, but I'm quite certain that it is an inaccurate death date, the recorder just filled the removal date in to that field as well. This may be a record for your Ann Craig being removed from Hookstown to Green Mount. You can see the others in the list with her, but none appear to be connected. It is mostly single graves. The family may have decided to transfer her to Green Mount for some reason. What do you think? I'm sorry it ha! s taken so long to find a record like this, these records are not indexed yet. I am working at them, but everything is gradual. Let me know what you think. I doubt that I'll find much more in our records, but this is something at least. 3. May I have Bill's email address? We visited two sites this past weekend, a Renner family burial ground and the Joseph Fox/John Fox site (which is very overgrown.) God bless the family taking care of the Renner site--they should be recognized for their good work.
