She is listed as single, and he is listed as adopted. I have seen some research on the internet, that lists Joseph Marshall as the father of Lazier Calvert. He is the person that they were living with in the 1900 Census. However, I do not know if this is accurate. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Calvert and Eleanor Thralls had 10 children and after Eleanor died and John married Margaret Marshall, daughter of James Marshall, they had 4 children. Malinda was born in 1862. Margaret died in 1888. James(Lazar) couldn't be John and Margaret's son, BUT he could very well be Malinda's son, if related at all. She would have been 32 when he was born, possibly out of wedlock. Pleasant Jane "Pleasy" Province Calvert, was my GGgrandfather's sister. I have a great deal of info on her family going back several generations. I also have her husband James going back at least 3 more generations. Others have him going back even farther. I have Joseph Calvert married to a Harriet, but did not know she was a Zimmerman. I also have his as Joseph F. not Joseph R. Joseph's father, James Gilmore Calvert was married 3 times. 1) Pleasant Jane Province "Pleasy". 2) Sarah Ellen Cage. 3) Hester Ann Postlethwaite. Children of James & Pleasy were: Joseph, Jonathan, Anna Elizabeth, Amos, Clarinda, Matilda & Mary. James & Sarah had 2 children but I believe they both died at birth & I believe Sarah did also. James & Hester had Henry Clay, Kitty, James Justice & Charles. An interesting twist: James had the child Henry Clay with Hester Ann when he was married to Sarah Ellen. I have a photo of Henry Clay Calvert Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: ThelmaWhiteYeager Surnames: Calvert, Marshall Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.greene/11127/mb.ashx Message Board Post: According to research, John D. Calvert & his 2nd wife, Margaret Marshall, had a daughter by the name of Melinda. Listed in the 1900 Census for Clay District, Monongalia Co., WV, are Malinda and Lazier Calvert. They are living in the home of Joseph Marshall, and Malinda is listed as a servant. Lazier is 9 years old, and he is listed as being adopted. I am interested in knowing if the Lazier Calvert listed in the 1900 Census is really Joseph Leasure Calvert (1892-1979). Any help is greatly appreciated. 1. Re: [PAGRE] Ten Mile Country
    2. J.A. Florian
    3. "Ten Mile Country" (note, NOT county) got its name because Ten Mile Creek runs through that area and because an author referred to that area as Ten Mile Country". It's better thought of as the Ten Mile area. Ten Mile Creek runs through both Washington and Greene Counties. The area of Ten Mile in Washington County included the original Amwell Twp and West Bethlehem Twp (and West Bethlehem Twp line "moved" -- I believe slightly more away from Rt 40 E.) The area of Ten Mile, I *think* would at least extend from Rt 40 East to Amity, to Marianna and back to Rt. 40 near Scenery Hill, PA (old name Hillsborough, PA). SWEARINGEN were in the general area of Amwel Tp, West Bethlehem Tp, East Bethlehem Tp. HILL were definitely nearer Scenery Hill PA. I've not researched these, nor have I paid any attention to WILSON in the area. I'm not sure where Ten Mile Creek runs through Greene Co except for Clarksville, Rices Landing, and ?Fredericktown? So if you look at a paper map, find Ten Mile Creek and extend your search on both sides of the creek, from Washington to Greene Co. There were major migrations from Washington County west during each decade. Families went whole-- or-- just certain generations and some relatives stayed behind in PA.
