    3. Thanks for all the help on this matter. George was the son of Henry. According to the 1860 census, they were neighbors. According to th McConnell's map of Greene County, Penna., 1865, they were neighbors on Grimes Run in Franklin Township. According to the 1880 census of Franklin Township, George is living near his son, Henry. According to his tombstone, George is listed as a Grimes. And yet, he is listed in the Grimes book as a Graham. I have the Graham-Grimes Genealogy, 1926 by Sitherwood. I also have the Computer print out by Ken Neundorf dated Aug. 23, 2006. That was the confusing part. Looking for a Grimes but was a Graham instead. So sorry George about goofing up your name. By the way, there is a Grimes-Graham reunion near Prosperity, Pa. the last Saturday of August. Larkin Dellinger

    3. This came from another list to which I subscribe. The following was released to the press on 27 March 2007: FamilySearch News Release 27 March 2007 One Million Historical Names from Canada Go Online Nova Scotia Releases Early Birth, Marriage, and Death Records SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH-Early vital records of Nova Scotia, Canada, are viewable over the Internet for the first time and for free, thanks to a joint project by the Genealogical Society of Utah, FamilySearch, and the Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management (NSARM). The records include one million names found in birth records from 1864 to 1877, marriages from 1864 to 1930, and death records from 1864 to 1877 and 1908 to 1955. Users can search the database at www.novascotiagenealogy,com Nova Scotia is the first province in Canada to digitize all of its historical vital statistics and make them available online. "This project provides key information to researchers on their ancestors," said Genealogical Society of Utah regional manager Alain Allard. "It involves the vital records-births, marriages, and deaths-which are a key record set to find, identify, and link ancestors into family units." The Genealogical Society of Utah (GSU) first microfilmed most of Nova Scotia's vital records back in the 1980s. In 2005, GSU used FamilySearch Scanning to convert those microfilms to digital images, while at the same time capturing additional vital records with a specially designed digital camera. Volunteers for the Nova Scotia Archives then used the images to create the searchable electronic index, which was completed in 2006. Anyone can now search names in the index and view a high quality digital copy of the original image online for free at NSARM's Web site, www.novascotiagenea logy.com. In the near future, the index and images will also be available on FamilySearch. org. Researchers who want to obtain an official copy of a record can do so online through the Nova Scotia Archives. The cost will be CAN$9.95 for an electronic file and CAN$19.95, plus shipping and taxes, for paper copies. Nova Scotia Provincial Archivist, W. Brian Speirs, said the cooperation of GSU was crucial to this important project. "Without the Genealogical Society of Utah offering in the early days of the project to provide complimentary digitization of all the records as their contribution to the initiative, the proposed undertaking would have been dead in the water and gone nowhere," Speirs said. FamilySearch is the public channel of the Genealogical Society of Utah (GSU), a nonprofit organization sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. FamilySearch maintains the world's largest repository of genealogical resources accessed through FamilySearch. org, the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, and over 4,500 family history centers in 70 countries.

    3. Near Waynesburg, Pa. across from Sheetz, Burger-King and Hardee's is the Morrisville Cemetery. It is the site of the now dentist office in the old church building. In the cemetery is buried the following: George Grimes 1822-1897, Eleanor Grimes 1826-1899. Their marker is a new large one. There are three old markers for Grimes children. Their names are Franklin, Katherine and unknown. Would any one have any history on this family. I haven't been able to connect them to the descendants of George and Charity Graham. Grimes and Grahams is interchangeable and is sometimes in the same family. Larkin Dellinger

Author: Diana_Smith_ Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.greene/10861/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello Greene County Researchers, I'm the volunteer administrator for this board and would like to remind everyone about the purpose and proper use of the "Surnames" field. The purpose is to create a global (every message on every board) searchable index of Surnames. Now, as genealogists, we all know the value of an index, don't we? Think about how hard it would be to find a library book without the card catalog! These boards have an "Advanced Search" feature which allows searching *only* in the surnames field, which is vital for such surnames as James, Thomas, Born, Few, Husband, Cousin, Street and States. >From the Board FAQ (link at bottom of page): "Once you have typed your message, enter all of the surnames mentioned in your post in the "Surnames" field. Please include only surnames that are mentioned in your post- not all surnames you might be researching. If you wish, you can include surname spelling variations for the surnames mentioned in your message." So, please remember: -fill in the surnames box so your message WILL be indexed -not to include other words such as "and others", "etc.", "Greene Co." or any word that is not a surname. -include *only* those surnames (and spelling variations, if you wish) that are IN your message. Thanks and good luck! Diana Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
