Author: dedmod1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.greene/1060.2038.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm interested in this line too at the moment. Not because it's my own line, but because I'm descended from the Evans line of Amwell Twp., Washington Co., PA and want to find if there are connections between the two lines and if not to have a list of who is in the Greene Co., line so I can avoid confusion. For instance: There's a note in the history of, I believe, the Goshen Baptist Church of a David Evans and wife Mary who were received into fellowship and he voted elder on 12 May 1775. One of the Washington County, PA history books attach this to the David Evans of Amwell, but a correspondent recently made me aware that this David Evans came from CT while I believe the Amwell David Evans came from NJ. Therefore I suspect it should be attached to the Greene Co., David Evans. Can someone verify this and give me a link or two to the genealogy of the Greene Co., David Evans? 1. [PAGRE] Morton and Redd private cemeteries
    2. Judy Florian
    3. PAGenWeb site... I've also added the very small cemeteries (read by my uncle) for REDD and MORTON (also have a few other surnames), Amwell Twp. Don't get your hopes up - these are tiny cemeteries with few readable stones. It's a shame so many stone incriptions didn't survive the SW PA cold, ice, and snow -- or the plow. As always if the on-site search engines don't show new pages, re-check in a few days. I'm never sure how quickly the searches pick up new stuff. Judy

    1. [PAGRE] Cemetery additions
    2. Judy Florian
    3. For the Washington County PAGenWeb I've added 2 cemetery lists, and will be adding a 3rd. (1). North Ten Mile Baptist Cemetery Washington County, PA Contributed by Ellen J. Ballas Surnames: WALTON, BAKER, FEASTER, DENMAN, EVANS, SOWERS, ENOCH, REES, MILLER, VENOM, VEHNAM, ENOCH, PAUL, EGY, TRUSSLER, WRIGHT, GORDON and unidentified ones. For this cemetery, I decided to try something different...I added the US Census image of just "the family" for the deceased person, using whichever year that was closest "before" the person's death year. Please let me know if you find this helpful so I can decide whether to add Census to other cemetery lists. (2) CARROLL CEMETERY EAST & WEST FINLEY TWPS. WASHINGTON CO., PA. Contributed by William L. Baran Surnames: ALLISON, AULD, BATSON, BLAIR, CARRAL, CARRALL, CARROLL, ENLOW, McCARROLL (3) *HORN CEMETERY Buffalo Twp., near the S Bridge Copied by my uncle Joseph F. Florian, Jr. Surnames: GANTZ, HEWIT, HORN, MYERS, WILLIAM. Also has 31 unmarked stones. *Will be added this during the next week. Judy Florian

    2. Mrs. Flossie Fox Cannon, 72, of Charleston, W. Va., a former resident of Greene County, died Friday, Jan. 28, 1966, at Kanawha Valley Hospital, Charleston. She was manager and operator of the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio at Charleston. Mrs. Cannon, wife of Fred B. Cannon, was born at Mount Morris, where she resided during the early part of her life. She made her home at Charleston for a number of years. Surviving in addition to her husband are two nieces, Mrs. Olan Henderson, of Wadestown, W. Va., and Mary Eddy, of Charleston, and a nephew, W. G. Eddy, of Los Angeles, California. Her son, Ensign Fred B. Cannon, Jr. Was killed during World War ll and a sister, Mrs. J. Ellis Pitzer, of Fairmont, W. Va., died in 1955. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 31, at Charleston, with temporary interment in the Springfield Mausoleum at Charleston. Permanent burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery at Mount Morris. PS I made a correction in this obit. Spelling was wrong for the word Kanawha. It was spelled Kenowha. Many people spell Kanawha wrong. I live in Kanawha County. More: Another obit: Mrs. Flossie Fox Cannon, 72, of Charleston, W. Va. A former Mt. Morris resident, died Friday, Jan. 28, 1966 in Kanawha Valley Hospital, Charleston. She had been ill for some time. For the last 15 years of her life Mrs. Cannon was owner and operator of the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio, which Mr. Cannon now owns and operates. Henry, here are two sources. (1) on the web, look at www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/FamHist-GreenPA.html, where a listing of surnames in the Goshen church is located. (2) I don't think much more is available, but you could ask Robert Webb at [email protected] - he is a fount of information on Primitive Baptists and, if he will take time, will do lookups for you.
