Hi everyone. This is really off topic, but you are all my friends so I thought I would let you know about this as it is becoming a common problem. If I get into trouble for this, please understand my concern. I have twins that are both allergic to peanuts. Leah is the worst. She swells up in the head very fast. Shock is the next phase, and I am trying to avoid that as most don't survive the shock. The problem that we are having is the cross contamination that is going on in the US. If you think about it I know you will see the problem. When you produce a good product, and produce a peanut product in the same plant, you take the chance of cross contamination and someone somewhere will react. If you look at the M&M candies you will see that they have put on the package "produced in a facility that also produces a peanut product" or some such warning. What this has done for us is taken M&M's off of our diets. The warning is nice, but doesn't help since the school is still feeding them M&M's and I can't get them to stop. Nestle has just gone through the same thing and have changed their mind and are not producing a peanut product (we put enough pressure on them). The point of this is Nabisco has just announced that in the US they will be producing a peanut butter Oreo cookie. What this does is take the Oreo cookie out of my cabinets and gives me another battle with the school system. Please, I know this is really off topic, but I have an address for Nabisco that you can send them your comments. Could you please do so and let them know your thought's? The more of us that comment the better. Nabisco in Canada has agreed to not produce a peanut product, perhaps we can get the US to do the same. Here is the address: http://www.kraftapps.com/contact_us/next.asp Please, help make a difference with this problem. Peanut allergy is something that is become very prevalent and is one of the worst allergies to have. As an example, in Canada a senior in high school ate a regular sandwich that was wrapped in plastic but in a bag with peanut butter sandwiches that were also wrapped in plastic. They were on a field trip, and the girl died in her mothers arms. There is nothing funny about this allergy. Sincerely, Renee Waring
