My grandmother had a sister, Laura Edith Mary Smith, who married a gentleman called Alfred Ernest Halestrap in 1899 in Kilburn, London, England. They had a son on 28 November 1901 called Alfred. Sadly, Laura died two weeks after the birth. I have no knowledge of what happened to Alfred, but noticed on the US SS Death Index that there was an Alfred Halestrap born on 289 November 1901 and wondered whether this was the same person.
