Hello Pennsylvania list Can anyone help me find a missing ancestor. I'm trying to determine the parentage of my Great Grand Mother Esher Jane Wood who I believe was born in Pennsylvania in 1870. Her parents were Thomas Wood and Emma Wood. Emma would be approximately 26 years old at Esther Jane's birth. They emmigrated to the US, and my mother told me that they settled in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, I have no details of which county in Pennsylvania. Following Esther Jane's birth Emma and her daughter returned to England and settled in Crompton Shaw, Oldham, Manchester. I understand that Thomas returned to take them back to America, but they would not go back with him. Thomas went back to America alone, but I'm not sure where he settled. It would be great if someone had access to the Birth Indexes of Pennsylvania for 1870, and could look up the birth. I have no means of determining Thomas's background or Emma's because I am unable to determine when they married, or Emma's maiden name. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps I can undertake some research in the Oldham area if anyone is seeking their ancestors.
