Still looking for my great grandfather, Robert Edward KIDD, born somewhere in Pennsylvania, April 1864. I cannot find him on the 1871 so far. He moved to Lincolnshire, England and became a fisherman, so I do find him there in 1895, when he married. Pretty sure he became a fisherman apprentice in 1882 in England. Father's name is William. I have found one possible family with a father named ROBERT (William could have been a middle name, I guess). Anyone with church records and time, please give a look. Thank you. Kim
Kim, Heritage Quest will sell you a CD of any surname you chose for the 1870 Census. In your case, it would be KIDD. For the entire US for 1870 - they are $19.95 for each surname. If you join for $29.95, you pay $14.95. They are a great company and very reliable. I buy all my census CD's from them - the real thing. You buy those just like you would if you were looking at the film at the National Archives or such. The numbers for each CD match those films. The 1880 Census has one Robert Kidd in PA. He is located in Allegheny Co, with his parents and is 16 years old. The information is: Robert Kidd - head - 64 yrs - b. Ireland E. J. Kidd - wife - 50 yrs - b. Ireland Maggie Kidd - dau - 19 yrs, b. PA Robert Kidd - son - 16 yrs, b. PA James Kidd - son - 14 yrs, b. PA Harry Kidd - son - 12 yrs, b. PA George Kidd - son - 7 yrs b. PA I would certainly investigate this family. If Robert Sr. and E. J. both lived past 1885, there is a possibility of finding a death record for them in Pittsburgh at the courthouse. In addition, I would look for an obit for both of them and see what they say. This family lived in what was Allegheny City - now part of Pittsburgh. Good luck. meg LiamTurner@aol.com wrote: > Still looking for my great grandfather, Robert Edward KIDD, born somewhere in > Pennsylvania, April 1864. I cannot find him on the 1871 so far.
