Dear Renee, I don't own the Olive Tree site but just want to give my opinion. Sites such as Olive Tree are very massive and very expensive to operate. Many times, webmasters such as the webmaster of Olive Tree and myself as the webmaster of Obituary Central have to resort to joining an affiliate program such as Ancestry in order to help fund the maintenance of the site. Believe me, the revenue doesn't come close to what is needed to keep these sites up. Much of this comes out of our own pockets and the little help from affiliate revenue keeps sites such as Olive Tree FREE for your personal research. The Olive Tree Genealogy site is TOO valuable of a site for a serious researcher to avoid. Just my opinion.
