Hi...to all the list... Wanted to say this....apparently our ISP had inadvertantly put Rootsweb mailing lists on their spam service....so if we were bouncing or something, it was our ISP acting up and all. I emailed them and talked to them....and I received an email earlier saying they believed that they have solved the problem. I hope so....if anyone gets this email, please email me and tell me that someone on the list received it so I know you got this message. I would hate to have to reenlist all the lists that we are on because of our ISP. So please respond to this email so I know it is still working... Stephanie Grohol
Hello...... I am seeking information on the my family roots, my name is Joseph Grohol Jr., I am the great grandson of Andrew and Mary (Wantuch or Vantuch) Grohol. This is what I have on my great grandparents. Andrew Grohol born in 1879 in Czechslovakia, came to America in 1902 settled in Humboltd, PA (a township of Hazelton). He married a Mary Wantuch (not sure if they immigrated together or were married when they came to this country together). She was born in 1885 and they had 5 children including my grandfather. Their names are as follows: John, Michael (my grandfather), Mary, Anna and Andrew, Jr. I have most of the information on 2 of the 5 children. Andrew died on May 20, 1941, according to his obiturary he had sister living in West Hazelton by the name Mary Dzurek, I am seeking information about this sister of his. Also Mary Wantuch Grohol died on July 2, 1957. Seeking information about her family as well. Anyone with information to trade on the children of Andrew and Mary or their family Andrew's and Mary's parents please contact me off the list. Thank you for any assistance and have a nice day.
Susan and all...I'm not in competition with the Macon County site,,,but the reason I do offer my lookups also for free is I have more information than what is available on the Macon Chamber of commerce site. As noted on the site,,,their last update was February 2002. I have the latest Database , Dated October 1 2002 directly from the National Park Service which has 41718 records . The Macon site although is supplied the information from the Andersonville archives, advertises 32000 and hasn't updated in a long while. To give an example...Susan..I show the following that is not included in the online database for your ancestor. I thought you might like it. Discharged per General Order, June 16, 1865. Data source PA ADG RPT, 138th INF: 368 I'm happy to send any additional details I can . Here is a free way to find your relatives that were at Andersonville Prison camp. Go to http://www.maconcountyga.org/ then click on the link "Andersonville National Cemetery and Historical Site", then on that page there are two look ups links, one by name and one by rank. My great Grandfather was John Ritchey from Pa. but they have him listed as John Richey, so you may need to see if they have the spelling wrong..
Hello veterans and newbies of the RootsWeb. I have received permission from the listowner to make this offer. There are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are more than 32000 prisoners on record from the Union, and quite a few who were held prisoner here as Union regiments from Confederate states. There are also nearly 13000 marked graves of those who died here. I thought I would send my offer as these would lead to a great many descendants who might be looking for them.. I feel the need to say I am not in anyway trying to focus on the horrors of Andersonville compared to any POW camp in the north ..( i.e.Elmira ) or any others and do not wish to stir up arguments on this site. My focus is dedicated to ALL of those held prisoner during this war , on both sides as well as all Americans who gave their freedoms for those that we enjoy today.. I just happen to be near Andersonville so this is where I do my work Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I also have the continued update database which is dated October 01 2002 . I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. Please do not consider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking . Please email me directly at Frye@gnat.net If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. I am looking for any and all information on a William Hill who, as a far as I can tell owned land along "Ten Mile Creek" in or near Waynesburg/Waynesberg. It looks like it could possibly be in the County of Green (somthing like that). I believe he was married to a Mary Parkinson/Perkinson. I am trying to see if I can make a connection between this William Hill and John Hill b/1794 (father and son ?) If you know of this person please contact me. mghill@gte.net

Margaret posted a couple requests in August of 1997 looking for information on Beck lineage. Here messages are below. The email address she listed no longer works. I would really like to get in touch with her, as it seems she knows of a missing link in my lineage. If anyone else can help here, I would greatly appreciate it! My email to her follows: Hello Margaret, I saw your posting at http://www.chm.davidson.edu/PAGenWeb/Q1997.html regarding Beck lineage. I believe that I am of Johann Christian Beck lineage. In my second-hand research(mostly at familysearch.org), as well as verbal history, I've pieced this together: --------------------------- Christian Beck - 1787-c1860 and Elizabeth Stamm gave birth to Andrew J Beck in 1831 in Indiana. Andrew J Beck and UNKNOWN gave birth to James Milton Beck in 1851 James Milton Beck and Nancy Ann Everman gave birth to John Reeve Beck in 1884 John Reeve Beck and Mabel Claire Moss gave birth to my grandfather John Edward Beck in 1925 Then my father and myself. The dates would be right for my Christian Beck to be the child of John Phillip Beck, born in 1751. Do you have any additional dates for John Phillip Beck's children? Well I would appreciate anything your can offer. In exchange I'll fill you in on any details I have. Thank you, Brad ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------ * BECK/SCHULTZ/LAUDENSCHLAGER/STEIN/HIESTER/RITTER. Johann Christian BECK, Sr. was the immigrant. He marr. Anna Maria. They had 2 sons that I know of: [John] Christian,1750/1806, and [John] Philip BECK,1751/1811. Christian was a powdermaker and marr. Eva Mgt. Ritter,1755/1829. Philip a noted gunsmith marr. Anna Maria LAUK of Tulpehocken, Berks Co. Supposedly, 1 of his guns is on display in the Independence Hall Museum, but I have not viewed it. Christian had 3 sons: J. Christian III, Tobias & Wilhelm. Philip with Anna Maria had 6 surviving ch.: Catherine, Christian, Anna Maria, J.Philip, Jr.,Polly, Elizabeth. With his second wife, Barbara Bosher surviving was Susannah Beck, 1806/?. My direct line follows Eliz. but am interested in finding any BECKs of this line. Hello Everyone: I have recently added over 2,200 Ancestors to the 1600s Ancestor Data Base with more to come. The total is now over 24,500 and most all are proven Ancestors of descendants living today. I have also added several National Societies who have proven many of these Ancestors. Also for the first time a few respected Reference works that contain thousands of sources. This should be a big help for those of you trying to prove your lines. You will find the 1600s Ancestor Data Base at our new location URL. http://www.firstfamilies.org/db/ This is a free data base open to anyone who is interested in the 1600s and the many ancestors who were here at that time. While there be sure to read the INFORMATION & HELP page so you understand the codes that I have used and how to best use them. Happy hunting and most of all enjoy. Ryan Jackson Data Base Manager
