    2. Otter Key
    3. Susan, This one should be interesting for you as the 1880 Census has the family listed as: 1880 Census of Village of Sterling, Clearfield, PA LACOURT Peter, age 50, coal miner, b. France Josephine, wife, age 34, b. France LABOLLE Ernest, stepson, 12?, b. France Mary, stepdaughter, 10, b. France Henry, stepson, 6, b. France Jennie?, stepdaughter, 6 months, b. Oct 1879 in Pennsylvania It would appear that Mr. LABOLLE had passed away during the previous year and his widow, Josephine, married Peter LACOURT. All these people were listed as living in the same household and the relationships listed were to the head of household, Peter LACOURT. Patricia

    3. Were there influences that caused people to move east from PA between 1870 and 1877? The reason I ask is that William H. and Martha J. Moyer were living in Union County Haines Twp. in the 1860 and 1870 census with several children including a grand-daughter Barbara Weikle in the 1860. By the 1870 census Barbara is living with a Henry Shaulter family in Centre County Benner Twp. I have no idea who the Shaulters are. Family legend goes that sometime between the 1870 census and 1877 apparently, when Barbara married in MO, she, her Grandparents, William and Martha Moyer and an Aunt, Rachel Moyer, left PA in a covered wagon and settled in MO. Barbara's other Aunts and Uncles are not mentioned in MO and it would seem some would have been too young to have married and remained in PA. If anyone can suggest reasons it may help me piece more of their story together. Thank you very much, Charlene

I have been to a census library before but haven't been able to find them, maybe because the name can be spelled so many ways! I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanks, Charlene

    3. I am attempting to answer a query by Nancy V. Podella from California. She was wondering about The Protectory for Boys located in Providence Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The Boys' Protectory was established in 1896 by Archbishop Patrick John Ryan for the "protection and training of wayward boys." If Ms. Podella will enter "The Protectory for Boys" - 1920, Pennsylvania - into her search engine she will find four sites for information concerning this Catholic service. Use the quotation marks as shown above (at least it worked for me!!) Good luck in your research, Nancy!
