Clifford Edward Paige was recently Y-DNA tested by Ancestry.com and his results (alleles) were compared where possible to those Pages in FTDNA's PAGE Surname Y-DNA Project that I administer. Clifford's results were found to be in Page Family Line O (My designation) descended from from Exolheath (Axelheath) Page of Goochland Co., VA, (d. 1780), or his close relative (brother or uncle) - 1754-1775. See my website to learn about Y-DNA testing and order a test kit: www.PageY-DNA.ORG From his daughter, Mandy McCubbin I learned that her brother, Clifford Edward Paige, and she are supposedly direct descendants of the immigrant Nathaniel Page/Paige. From published sources I just found out that he was b. c. 1645 in County Devon, Eng. and arrived in Mass. in 1675, where he changed the spelling of his name to PAIGE. He lived in Billerica that become Bedford, MA , where he died on Apr 12, 1699. [Source: "PAGE Genealogical registers of ancestors & desc. of ... Lemuel Page & Polly Paige, Peter Joslin & Sarah Kidder, with brief accts. of them & their ancestors," by Luke J. Page, 1887, p. 155] Several of his descendants were officers during the Revolutionary War and some lived in Hardwick, Mass.. The same source states that a General Sir John Page lived in County Devon in 1489 indicating a military background for at least one line of Devonshire Pages. [Ibid.] The descendants of Nathaniel Page/Paige are well know and none appear to have gone to Virginia, so we must look back further than Nathaniel Page/Paiges immigration as the source of the father of Exelheath Page and his brother and the common Page ancestor. That search should be centered in county Devon, England, especially during the 17th century. This would best be undertaken by searching the IGI found on-line on the LDS website. We need to get at least one more male PAIGE Y-DNA tested to confirm the "Fingerprint Y-DNA Markers" of the Nathaniel Paige's line of Page/Paiges. George W.
