    3. The following were extracted from Dr. R.C.M. Page's, "Genealogy of the Page Family in Virginia ...," First Edition, 1893, Second Edition printed in 1972, pp. 29-30, citing the Virginia Land Records indicated: A "Thomas Page received 281 1/2 acres on south side of Rappahannock River for transporting six persons (to Virginia) - Apr. 21, 1657, Land Records No. 4, p. 132." "Also same patentee - 500 acres - south side of Rappahannock River. Date 1662 L. R. No. 5, p. 246." "Thomas Page and others - 3075 acres in Rappahannock Co. 3rd Apr. 1667 - No. 6, p. 182." Same 783 acres in rap. Co. 16 immigrants 3 Aug. 1667. L.R. No. 5. p. 183." A Captain Thomas Page of that era was in the shipping business because on 11 Nov. 1661 he wrote a letter from Deptford (port on the Thames River), Kent, England to the Navy Commission requesting that his stores be expedited in preparation for a voyage. [Cal. of Patent Rolls, Charles II, Domestic, Vol. XLIV, p. 142]. On 10 Dec. 1662, the next year, he issued a certificate as to the ability of Thomas Wadland to be master of the "Nightingale." [Ibid., Vol. XXXIV, p. 572.] Apparently Thomas Page, as well as Col. John Page of Virginia and a Gregory Page, were part owners in vessels that were active in the East India Company, and were trading with Virginia. Immigrants were transported for minor offenses from England to Virginia to work on the plantations, and Tobacco was hauled back to England (Despite the Surgeon General's Warning about smoking! This commerce was the start of "Big Tobacco" in America, which is now fair game for all the people who want to be rewarded for their bad habit over the years despite the Surgeon General's warning!)
