The best reference to this Page line of Virginia is Dr. R.C.M. Page's, "Genealogy of the Page Family in Virginia ...," First Edition, 1893, Second Edition printed in 1972. It states that Gov. John Page had 12 children by his first wife, Frances Burwell, but three of them died as children. By his second wife Margaret Lowther, dau. of William Lowther of Scotland, he had another 8 children. There is no Joshua Page in the meager and incomplete index or in the list of his 17 children shown in the book! As Governor John Page's last two children were b. about 1795 (Barbara Page) and 1807 (Lucy Burwell Page), your Josiah would probably have been a grandson of the Gov. by one of his older sons from his first marriage. I have not pursued the details of the descendants of the immigrant Col. John Page, but they are available to a certain degree in Dr. R.C.M. Page's book and in the book, "Rosewell Garland of Virginia" by Claude O. Lanciano and ably assisted by from close friend Cecil Wray Page of Gloucester, VA, printed in 1978. The Page-Nelson Gen Society of Virginia is very active, having held reunions and meetings. Those of you who are descended from Col. John Page should submit hard copy info of your Page- Nelson ancestors to Margery & Dick Ludwig of Williamsburg through the Society's address: P.O. Box 396, Gloucester, VA 23061-0396, which is also Wray's address.
