I wonder if anyone has ever seen anything regarding the wife of Joseph PAGE of Londonderry NH and Haverhill MA. For quite some time my cousin and I have been attempting locate parents and ancestors for Rhoda DAVIS.We know she had a brother James DAVIS who was present at Rhoda's 80th birthday celebration. We have noted,as you may have that several of her children have the middle name DAVIS..Hannah Davis,JamesDavis (named after her brother?)and Nancy Davis;there are two further middle names which appear to have been given from surnames Rebecca Ingersoll and Samule Newell. We have failed thus far to find ancestory for Rhoda.If anyone has an insight to this problem I would greatly appreciate your help. Respectfully Brian C.Page

There is no specific reference to this Rhoda Davis in the NEH&GS Register, although there are many references to Rhoda Davis as the wife of a Davis. The most promising DAVIS family is in the article: "The Posterity of William Davis of Freetown" communicated by Gen. Ebenezer W. Peirce in Vol. 20 starting on p. 212. In other volumes of the Register: A Rhoda Davis m. Henry Osgood on 7 Aug. 1743 in South Hampton, NH. Rhoda (Johnson) Davis the wife of Eleazar Davis died at Concord, NH in May 1822. A more promising clue is the marriage on 18 June 1663 of Sarah DAVIS (the daughter of JAMES & Cicely DAVIS of Haverhill, MA) to John Page, bp. 11 July 1641 in Hingham, MA. John Page was the eldest son of John & Mary (Marsh) Page of Haverhill. John & Sarah (Davis) Page had at least one child: Sarah Page, b. 7 July 1680 - d. before 1739 who m. John HUTCHINS. ["The Family of John Page of Haverhill, MA"] There is a good possibility that they may have had additional children that we do not know about including a son John. IF PROVEN that would clear-up a lot of the mysterious Page lines in New England, including perhaps the Thomas Page of Walpole, b.c. 1721. Judith DAVIS, (also a daughter of JAMES & Cicely DAVIS of Haverhill, MA) m. on 21 June 1671 in Haverhill, MA Joseph Page, also a son of John & Sarah (Marsh) Page, and a brother of John Page in the above paragraph. Judith (Davis) Page d. of childbirth 28 Apr. 1672, and Joseph Page m.(2) 2 Dec. 1673 Martha Dow Heath the widow of Joseph Heath. The only know child of Joseph and Judith (Davis) Page was a daughter Judith Page, b. 25 Apr. 1672 in Haverhill, MA who was still living in 1708, and still named Page. [ibid., p. 21] My guess is that the Rhoda DAVIS who m. on 25 Sep. 1806 Joseph Page (son of Joshua, Jeremiah, Benjamin, & John Page of Haverhill) was descended from James & Cicely DAVIS of Haverhill, MA, and she was possibly a daughter of a JAMES DAVIS, which was also her brother's name.
