    2. Hi Pat, Normally I'd answer a question like this privately, but I thought there might be other AOL users who could benefit from the answer, too. AOL used to keep "unread" mail (or mail you've marked as unread to save it) for about four weeks. I suspect they may have shortened that a bit recently because I've lost a couple of messages myself in the past few weeks. (I tend to keep them active as a way of reminding myself that they still need action of some sort, and I'm way behind on dealing with them.) If you're traveling and want to make sure you won't lose important messages, try forwarding them to yourself every couple of weeks. I've never checked to see if attachments will forward that way, but at least you'd have the address of the person who sent you something so you could write to them when you get home and ask that it be sent again.
