okay,i have a question?my cousin rex terry page,s dna is a direct match with a man that lives over in greece, which used to be a part of the holy land, and is also a match with a man by the name of "yisrael"what does this mean? i,ve been watching alot of programs on the science channel about the holy land, does this mean we go back thousands upon thousands of years or are we somehow connected to the holy land to present day.rex has been intouch with the man over in greece, the man used to live in turkey when he was a boy during the days of w.w.2,he says the part of turkey where he was born was a part of jeruselam.i think it,s neat that rex and i have a direct dna match going back over to the holy land.could my edward page have immigrated to this country or maybe his ancestors? can someone answer this question for me? what implications does this have? does this mean that my page family has connections to the biblical days? please,i would love some answers to this question where i can understand it. thankyou in advance
The phrase "dna is a direct match" is misleading and not very clear. There are a number of different tests offered, 12 marker test, 25 marker test, 37 marker test, and 64 marker tests. A perfect match of 12 markers does not mean very much unless the people who match, share a common surname. Even a perfect match at 25 markers does not necessarily mean that two people share a common ancestor for many many generations, if they share a common surname then the statistical likely hood that they share a common ancestor within a fewer number of generations increases. If two individuals have a perfect match at 64 markers and don't share a common surname, then there is very good reason to do some research and try to determine how they might be related. There are some very good FAQ's about all of this at the FTDNA web site. -----Original Message----- From: page-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:page-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of carla page Sent: Tuesday, August 11, 2009 11:38 PM To: page@rootsweb.com Subject: [PAGE] rex page dna direct match with a man over in greeceoriginally from turkey okay,i have a question?my cousin rex terry page,s dna is a direct match with a man that lives over in greece, which used to be a part of the holy land, and is also a match with a man by the name of "yisrael"what does this mean? i,ve been watching alot of programs on the science channel about the holy land, does this mean we go back thousands upon thousands of years or are we somehow connected to the holy land to present day.rex has been intouch with the man over in greece, the man used to live in turkey when he was a boy during the days of w.w.2,he says the part of turkey where he was born was a part of jeruselam.i think it,s neat that rex and i have a direct dna match going back over to the holy land.could my edward page have immigrated to this country or maybe his ancestors? can someone answer this question for me? what implications does this have? does this mean that my page family has connections to the biblical days? please,i would love some answers to this question where i can understand it. thankyou in advance ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to PAGE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
