I'll make a few statements: I am a senior citizen, born in CT and lived most of my life in the South--I don't remember my birth state. I did see the last Civil War veteran before he died. He was a Confederate and was a combatant. Our group of children spent a few hours with him. He never once mentioned the word "Yank" or otherwise bad-mouthed them. I'm also retired military and had friends that were in the worst of WWII. One was a Bataan Death March survivor and he never once mentioned it or did I ever hear him espouse anything on the Japanese. The only thing I remember him telling me that he was going to leave everything to his nephew who was a Viet Nam POW--and he did say that the nephew went through hell--he never mentioned his hell. I live in TN and our present governor was born in Illinois and also the previous mayor of Nashville was born in Upstate NY. The former Gov. of Texas and new President was born in New Haven, CT. I feel that most have gotten over the Civil War and moved on. thanks, Charles
