As a moderator of several RootsWeb lists, I can assure all of you that no one can take this group over to Facebook. They can create their own group on Facebook if they wish, but this group will remain here -- possibly under new management. As far as spam on this list -- I haven't noticed any. Can someone forward one example of what they consider spam? "Spam" is "Unsolicited Commercial E-Mail" according to the Spam FAQ (http://gandalf.home.digital.net/spamfaq.html). Other types of messages that you don't want to see or that you think are off-topic do not constitute "spam." Spam does get through on one of my lists occasionally. This happens when the list is gatewayed to the relevant message board. Message board posts are automatically forwarded to the list. As I manage the relevant message boards, all I can do is delete the offending post from the board, but it's too late to keep the message off the list. All I can do is apologize and remind subscribers of the gateway -- which most of the time is very useful in alerting list subscribers to information that may help them in their genealogical research. So, may I suggest we stop the SHOUTING and whinging and get back to Page genealogy?
