Anyone out there with land records from NY or PA for Archelaus Page or Christian Holmes his father-in-law? This would be 1800-1835 or so. Holmes was on the 1810 & 1820 census in Oswegatchie twp, and in 1830, Elk Creek Twp, Erie Co, PA. I remember reading/hearing somewhere along the line that Christian Holmes was a sea captain. Can anyone tell me where that info is stated? I can't find it in my notes. While reading a history of Ogdensburg (very interesting history) I found that there was a sea captain (in 1817 on the St Lawrence and Great Lakes) of a schooner, captains name was C. Holmes. He was master of a brand new schooner called Experiment, and of one called Oswegatchie. I'm trying to make a connection to our C(hristian) Holmes. Maybe this was him?
