    1. Re: [PAGE] question? has anyone ever been able to back up that exolheath page...
    2. George, thanks for posting the Exolheath (Axel Heath) Page information as a reminder to those of us who have searched in vain for the answers we all seek. As a DNA project coordinator myself, I appreciate all the work you do as the Page DNA project coordinator. BTW, if I can ever look up anything for you in Kentucky, please let me know. Eastern Standard Time, gwpage@erols.com writes: According to the best researchers, working for several years, the roots of Exolheath Page of Goochland Co., VA, extend to several locations including King & Queen County, VA, and "Ireland" (Irish Republic or Northern Ireland/). It is important to remember that he was not the only, or most senior, of the various PAGEs in that county during the early 1700s! He probably had brothers Robert and John Page from whom many PAGEs are descended. Here's some important facts determined by the best researchers in the business: !stimates of his birth have varied considerably, and as late as about 1715. He died sometime between July 1779 (when his case against James Overstreet was continued to the next court) and March 1780 (when the case was dismissed because the plaintiff (Exolheath) was dead). (Goochland Co., VA Ct. Order Bk. 13: 204 and Ct. Order Bk. 14: 21) Name may have been Axel Heath Page. A biography of a descendant in a Henry Co., Missouri history asserts the grandfather of Anderson (i.e. Exolheath) was of English descent. His name is also seen as Axelheath among records of descendants. Tithable lists of 1765, 1766, and 1767 shows the Exolheath household included 500 acres. Court records show Exolheath was appointed a surveyor in 1753. The first mention of Axelheath in the Goochland Co. Nov., 1753 Court record, "Ax'l Page is appointed surveyor of the Church Road from Toney's Bridge to Leak's Bridge with the usual gang." In Levy Court, Dec., 1754 "Exhollheath Page pd. for erecting two sign posts - 50# tobacco." Tithable and court data of Goochland Co., Virginia show that at least four Pages: John, Robert, Jacob, and Axelheath, arrived there about the same time, between 1740 and 1750. Whether they were brothers or related is unknown. The name of the Page in an earlier generation is not known or recorded. Exolheath was probably in King and Queen Co. before going to Goochland, as the following report by Dolores Rutherford indicates: "About three years ago, a correspondent was doing research in the VA State Archives and found a record involving Exolheath PAGE of Goochland Co. in the VA State Archives labeled as Goochland County Judgments, 1762 (False Imprisonment: Russell v. Drumwright Ext'rs)Box 31 This was an order of the court in the case of "Rufsell v. Mims &c" and is as follows: ("f"s are used in some cases for "s") "GEORGE the Second, by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France and Ireland, Ing, Defender of the Faith, Etc. To the Sheriff of Goochland County, Greeting. We command you to summon THOMAS STARKE & EXOLHEATH PAGE to appear before our Juftices of our faid County at the CourtHoufe on the third Tuesday in this present Month of May to teftify, and the Truth to fay, on Behalf of John Rufsell a poor person in a certain Matter of Controverfy in our faid Court, before our faid Juftices depending and undetermined, between the s'd John Rufsell plt. & Drumright's Executors Def'ts and they fhall in nowife omit, under the Penalty of one hundred pounds each Witnefs Vallentine Wood clerk of our faid Court, at the faid Court-Houfe, the XIIIth Day of May in the XXXIII'd Year of our Reign. Val. Wood" Another correspondent (not on our PAGE line) kindly went to the Archives and obtained copies of this for me. The file contained the affidavit filed by Thos. Starke, but not the one by Exolheath PAGE. If anyone is interested, I will post the affidavit filed by Thos. Starke. However, it does not mentioned Exolheath PAGE. This case is VERY INTERESTING as it indicates that both Thomas STARKE and our Exolheath PAGE were in King & Queen Co., VA before going to Goochland Co.. We already know from a deed record that the early John PAGE (the one with wife Hannah) was in K & Q Co. before going to Goochland Co., but we had no evidence that Exolheath or Robert PAGE were also there....although we have always suspected it." Several of them continued to migrate into North Carolina and then South Carolina. IF the family was originally from "Ireland" it would have been only a temporary place of residence as the various PAGE family lines are definitely of English origin, from counties Middlesex, Kent, Norfolk, Suffolk, and perhaps Essex and Devon. They would have been their temporarily as a result of the various English military service in support of people such as Oliver Cromwell. George W.
