I am seeking Haywood Murphy Page, b. May 30, 1928, who married Annette Holmes McLawhorn on Dec. 31, 1960 and had three children including a son, Albert Haywood Page, II, b. Aug 21 1964 who m. Teresa Dawn Bennett on June 20, 1987. Y-DNA testing of either Haywood Murphy Page or any of his male descendants, should provide Y-DNA markers that can be compared with the Y-DNA markers of other male descendants of North Carolina and Virginia Pages to seek or confirm a common male Page ancestor. Haywood Murphy Page wrote a research paper entitled, "A Genealogy Of The Page Family" in which he traces his North Carolina Page ancestry back to a Rev. War Vet, John Page, (b. 1759 in Edgecombe Co., NC - 1845) who he described as being the son of Joseph Page, Sr. thought to have been raised in King and Queen Co., VA, who went to the Edgecomb-Pitt, NC, area around 1750. Joseph Page, Sr. (birth and death years unk.) was described as a son of John Page, b. Dec. 22, 1699, who with two of his sons (John and William) moved their families from Goochland Co., VA, to an area about eight miles from Tarboro along the Tar River near what is now Conetoe, NC. This is along the border of Edgecombe and Pitt Counties, NC. Joseph Page purchased three hundred acres on the south side of the Tar River in 1782. About 1787 or 1788 Joseph Page, along with his brother John and John's wife Unity Harris Page moved to Jefferson Co., GA.The son John Page m. Unity Harris, and had two sons: John Jr. and Joseph. Joseph Page m. Elizabeth Bland and died in 1805. The Rev. War Vet, John Page, served five enlistments totalling 30 months between 1779 and 1783. In 1787/1788 he moved (together with his two first cousins John and Joseph Page, sons of John and Unity Page, to the Bulltail Creek area along the border of New Hanover (now Pender) and Dauplin Counties, NC. John Page lived in this area until his death in 1845. The sale of his property was held July 10, 1845. His eldestr child was named Dorcas, the wife of his brother's (Joseph Page, Jr.), was b. in 1797 and m. Daniel Bland. He and his wife had seven other children: Charles Page, b. 1800, m. Elizabeth Mashburn; John Page, b. 1804, m. Mary Mashburn and had 11 chiuldren; Mary Page, b. 1810, m. Amariah Bland; Rebecca Page, b. 1818, did not marry; Abram Page, b. 1820, b. 1820, m. Sarah Ann Rackley - served in Civil War; William Page, b. 1825, m. Elizabeth Catherine Drew; and Olive Page, b. 1828, m. Hugh Neil Murphy. His cousin Joseph Page (who married Elizabeth Bland) died in 1805. John Page (his other cousin) returned to Pitt County shortly after 1800. George W. Thanks to the efforts of a few dedicated Page researchers, I was able to find, call on the phone, and E-mail Haywood's son, Albert Haywood Page, II.
