    3. Hello Barb, I hope your eyes have improved. I have communicated with Delores Rutherford, but have not talked with George Page. Delores has done a lot of work researching the Page family. I don't know of anything about dna testing. Didn't you say you have the Father and Mother of my John Page? If you do, please send them to me. Thanks Ron Keene [email protected] Tex <[email protected]> wrote: Hi Ron, My eyes are still giving me trouble when I try to read. Seems like it's eye strain. Therefore, I plan to take my new glasses back to Sears to see if the prescription is what it should be. If that doesn't help...then I think I'll have my own Optometrist examine my eyes to see what he feels my prescription should be vs what I have now. Have they found any cataracts on your eyes? Once you have those show up --- out come the lenses. What is this "H" line you are talking about? I was looking at the DNA for James Page b. 1807 and our John Page. I also was looking at the Fosters & Carter. If certain markers match in all those surnames does that mean that we carry the same gene? I have only one "male" left of our Page line. Now, my niece has a boy....but that wouldn't count for the male Page DNA? George W. Page seems to be a really dedicated researcher. He has traced a lot of Page lines. So has Delores Rutherford. She traced every VA Page line and followed them into other states. George usually knows what he is talking about. Well! I've tired my eyes beyond strained tonight. Think I'll put them to bed. 2. The History of Washington County C. C. Page on page 89, 91-92, there is a letter from C. C. Page's wife. My great grandpapa was ambushed shot and killed in Escatawpa, Alabama and buried in the Old Escatawpa Cemetery in 1870 In the 1940s a logging truck ran thru the Old Escatawpa Cemetery and knocked over graves and the big truck with logs just tore up the graves. My great grandpapa Joseph R. Waldrop, his wife Sarah Baxter Waldrop and her mother Chairty Elizabeth Williford Baxter were three of the few graves were destroyed. (to our sorrow). So I don't know if your C. C. Page was buried there where the graves were destroyed or not. 3. Never mind, after looking through my information, there is no relation between your Cary C. Page and Wilburn and Thomas M. Page. However, I do have the following information on your Cary C. Page (forgive me if you already have this): Cary C. Page appears on the 1830 and 1831 Hinds County Mississippi tax rolls (along with a Samuel Page) Cary C. Page appears on the 1841 Mississippi Census in Lauderdale County and on the 1850 Lauderdale County, Mississippi U.S. Census. I spent a lot of time trying to connect the various PAGE's living in the Mississippi Territory. The majority of them either go back to Thomas Page and Mary Scott who settled in Covington County and some of whose children moved to Lauderdale and Neshoba Counties or John Page who was in Amite County in 1811. Sorry, I don't know where you Cary C. Page fits. 3. There may be no connection, but one of my line, Wilburn Page (b 1829 Mobile, AL) and his wife Matilda Walker, lived in Washington County, Alabama in the 1850's. The 1860 census has them living in Choctaw County, Alabama and by 1870 they were living in Anderson County, Texas. Wilburn's sister Jeanette Page Evans also moved to Texas. The children I have listed for Wilburn and Matilda are Emma J. Page, Alice E. Page, Sarah H. Page and Letta H. Page. Wilburn's brother, Thomas M. Page and his wife Sara Corely, also lived in Washington County during this time, but I have that Thomas M. Page died there in 1858. I do not have information on any children for Thomas and Sara Page. Let me know if you think there is a connection and I'll be happy to share what I have. 3. Dear Ruthanne, Yes, I am still hunting my Jacob. O. Page. The only other person I have contacted was a researcher in Canada. A Jacob. O. Page baptism was found but the dates turned out to be wrong for mine. Jacob left only one son-- Oliver J. Page b. 1867 in Olney IL. Oliver J. was raised by his stepfather Hamilton Wright in Crawford Co. IL. I would not be surprised to find that Jacob's family had been in the colonies and then later returned to the states. I will contact the other researcher you listed. This is my mother's surname and very important to me. Thanks, Marge Crews Telerski

    2. Ruthanne Page
    3. Hi to Marge Crews Telersky: I am almost organized to find others searching for your Jacob Oliver Page as well. Do you correspond with another relative of that man who is a researcher also? She is Diane Biggar-Taylor with the address of - "[email protected]" at least in Y2K which is when she was asking me about Jacob Oliver Page. Possibly she is on this list or a correspondent with Tom Mericle as they both suspect they are related to the Pages of Smithville and the Samuel Page - Hannah Cornell Line. I wanted to discuss your statement in a letter once that land was not given to children. In Canada right after the Revolution it was given to men of dubious patriotic background who wanted to settle in early Canada who were mostly from the US. While they might be 'friends' and loyal citizens and willing to settle down in the 1790's, they had already done some fighting FOR the US and AGAINST the British at an earlier date. These men fell into the grey area of no longer enemies but not quite able to be called Loyalists either - yet they still deserved land. In my line, Elijah Page(Sibil Brooks) was given land probably in the name of a son Aaron(Laura Dayton) when he was only 9 years old simply because the father had already fought as a Patriot. That land had a Ticket of Occupancy daated 1804 yet Aaron did not complete Settlement Duties until 1827 when he finally got his Patent. I think this was the same scenario for the sons of Benedict Arnold who got lands in the British held Caldwell Manor area later called Alburg Twp. Vermont. He was a friend maybe but not able to be a full Loyalist after the considerable harassment he did tormenting the British on Lake Champlain at the start of the Revolution. Many of these old applications for land in Canada showed names of everyone in the family. There are several Jacob Pages in these early land records of Canada and I do not know of any connection to others yet. Ruthanne Page ( still collecting records of early Canadian Page Families)

    1. [PAGE] Percy Harvey Page was a descendant of Jeremiah Page
    2. Ruthanne Page
    3. Hi PAGE List: Earlier I asked if anyone knew more about the family of Percy Harvey Page and our Den Mother George W. asked for a few more generations back.. I don't think this newsletter will print out Pedigree Charts very well so I will enclose 2 Descendancy charts showing this Percy H. Page from 2 directions. There were many early American Page families in Quebec for a while right after the Revolution and Jeremiah Page-Eliza Brown were Associates who traveled from NH with a leader Nicholas Austin and settled in the new County of Brome in QUEBEC. Many of the people who applied for land under a leader like this did NOT get their land and seemed to disappear only to show up somewhere else later. However The History of Brome County indicates that this group DID get land and was there for some time. I have the images of the original land application for a large group showing most of these Page names as 'Associates' of Nicholas Austin. Before I had this Descendancy chart from several sources, I thought the large petition showing the signatures of many people including Samuel and Hannah Page might be the elusive family known as the Samuel Page- Hannah Cornell line so many researchers are seeking. This seems less likely now that the information shows this family to be all related to Jeremiah Page-Eliza Brown - formerly from somewhere in New Hampshire. (There were so many Samuels and so many Hannah's!) I am wondering if any of these ring any bells for someone in the John Page-Phebe Paine family I belong to since there were many of that line in NH at some times also. I do not know this group at all but they came from some of the same areas and went 'missing' in Quebec for a few generations before appearing again. There must be thousands of descendants by now too. Any further connections to this line would be greatly appreciated. -------- --------- -------------- -------- --------- ---------- Jeremiah Page Sr. (b.18 Aug 1739-,New Hampshire;d.11 Feb 1824-Bolton Twp.,Brome Co.,QUE) sp: Eliza Brown (b.16 Jan 1747-NH;m.13 Dec 1763; d.6 May 1830-Bolton Tp.,Brome Co.,QUE) 2. Nite, Barb

    3. Ron, don't make the mistake of assuming you are descended from Edmund Page in the early 1600s just because he shares your same Y-DNA for the markers tested! You could be descended from a brother or uncle of his who would also share your common Y-DNA. George W.
