These Bible pages were sent to me by Edward Burnett. This is not my PAGE family but I asked Mr Burnett's permission to send the information along to the PAGE List. Mr Burnett bought this Bible in Reno, Nevada, in 1991 at a thrift store. These Names and Dates were copied from a Bible that belonged to Ruth S Paige. The first page of this Bible States " Ruth S Paige, A Present from her Mother, Jan, 28th 1857". And under that " Martha B.P. Moore, A present from Her mother, Ruth S. Paige. 1888" Because of the very small and sometimes Tight grouping of letters, If I can not make out a 1ST name or Middle Initial or Last Name I will Follow THAT name with an astrisk*. Hi, All, Because of an extra busy weekend coming up, I will not post Part #34 on Monday, May 3rd. See you again next Thursday, May 6th. Dolores
` Mary Ann PAGE (R-2) & Joseph PACE As stated before, Mary Ann's birthdate is not known, but probably occurred sometime in the mid-to-late 1730's wherever her parents lived at that time. Her father moved to Goochland Co., VA in the early 1740's. She was md. to Joseph PACE on 26 Oct 1762 in Goochland Co..(1) Joseph was the son of Joseph PACE, Sr. and his wife Anne BASFORD (dau. of Richard). Joseph, Jr. was b. in 1741, probably in Goochland Co. where his father received a patent of 130 acres of land on Little Byrd Creek in 1739.(2) Joseph PACE, Sr. had migrated to Goochland Co. with a number of other families from Middlesex Co. at about the same time--- the MOSELEYs, DANIELs, JOHNSONs, TUGGLEs and others. Joseph and Mary Ann (PAGE) PACE are said to have had ten children from 1763 to 1782. Mary Ann's death date is not known, but it was sometime between 1782-1795 when, on 28 Jan 1795, Joseph PACE md. Elizabeth CLEMENTS, dau. of John CLEMENTS.(3) Two more children were born of this second marriage. Joseph PACE died in 1815 without a will. His estate was evidently not settled until 1829 (after Elizabeth's death) when a deed naming all his heirs was made.(4) Much of the following information on this family is from the PACE Society "BULLETIN"s as I have done little research on this particular line. Endnotes #4 and #10 will identify the information given here from these publications. For simplicity, all of the references to these will not be given here, but can be found in either of these two issues. Other facts, not from these "BULLETIN"s, will be given their own endnote numbers. Mrs. Mehrkens, the editor of this publication at that time, stated that the birthdates of only six of the children of Joseph and Mary Ann (PAGE) PACE were recorded in the Douglas Register. However, the my copy of this book does not show these births. Some present-day PACE researchers differ with some of the informa- tion in the Bulletins, so anyone interested in these PACE families should also check with the PACE Website at: http://home.att.net/~pacenet Children of Joseph PACE & Mary Ann PAGE (R-2): R-2-1 Robert PACE He was b. 19 Oct 1763 in Goochland Co. and d. sometime after the 1840 Census was taken at which time he was age 77. He md. Frances TUGGLE on 5 Jan 1790 in Goochland Co..(5) Frances was the dau. of Henry TUGGLE and his wf. Hellender CONOLLY who were md. in Goochland Co. in 1751.(6) Henry TUGGLE was born in Middlesex Co., VA, the son of Henry TUGGLE, Jr. and his wf. Mary GODBEY (dau. of Edward & his wife, Frances). Henry TUGGLE/TUGWELL/TUGLE, Jr. died in Middlesex Co. in 1733.(7) Frances TUGGLE's father, Henry, came to Goochland Co. with his mother and her 2nd husband, Daniel BASKETT who were accompanied by the PACEs and other Middlesex Co. families named previously here. According to Mrs. Mehrkens "Robert PACE was only 16 years old when he was drafted into the (Goochland Co.) militia on 19 June 1780" and he fought in a number of battles of the Rev. War until the end of the war and even then "After Cornwallis surrendered, Robert marched as guard of the prisoners of war to Winchester, where he received a written discharge and returned home, this time for good". He received a pension for his war service in 1832 which amounted to $26.66 a year. His father gave him a small farm of 27 1/4 acres in 1799 and he sold it to John JOHNSON in 1817 at a good price. The PACE "Bulletin" gives the following listing of Robert & Frances' children and other Goochland Co. records supply some of their marriage dates: R-2-1-1 Mary PACE, b. 1791, d. ? - md. John JOHNSON on 18 Feb 1810.(8) John was the son of Benjamin JOHNSON and his wf. Rachel PACE. R-2-1-2 James PACE, b. ca. 1792, d. ? . The PACE "Bulletin" states only that he md. Susan ? but this may be the Susanna MITCHELL who md. James PACE on 28 Oct 1813.(9) R-2-1-3 "daughter" PACE, b. ca. 1794 R-2-1-4 "daughter" PACE, b. ca. 1796 R-2-1-5 "J" (Joseph? John ?) R-2-2 Jesse PACE His birth is given as 1765. His wife's name is given in the PACE "Bulletin" only as Christian, without a last name. R-2-3 Ann PACE, b. 18 Apr 1766. Went to Fluvanna Co., VA. R-2-4 Joseph PACE, b. 18 May 1768. He moved to Fluvanna Co., VA ca. 1820-1830. R-2-5 Jane PACE, b. 4 Aug 1770. Jane is said to have stayed in Goochland Co.. She may have been the Jane PACE whose marr. bond was filed on 10 Dec 1803 in Goochland Co. for a marriage to Caleb BUTLER.(11) R-2-6 John C. PACE, b. 25 Sep 1773. He is said to have md. Mary Ann ? (poss. JOHNSON) about 1793. He purchased 85 1/4 acres of land in Fluvanna Co. about 1793 and sold it back to William PERKINS (from whom he had purchased it) in 1818. R-2-7 Josiah PACE, b. 29 Sep 1776, prob. d. before 1829. R-2-8 William PACE, b. ca. 1778, d. ? . He md. his cousin Lucy PACE, dau. of Jesse PACE, son of William PACE. William and Lucy were included in the list of heirs of her father in the settlement of his estate. They appear in the 1850 Census of Goochland Co., VA with only a Jane PACE, age 31, listed with them. She may have been a daughter. He is also listed in the 1860 Census. R-2-9 Mary Ann PACE, b. ca. 1780, d. 1816. She never md.. R-2-10 Susanna Pace, B. CA. 1782, d. ? . She was md. to Jesse HOUCHINS in Goochland Co. on 2 Jan 1802 by Rev. Richard Pope.(12) This couple later went to Garrard Co., KY. NOTES (1) Douglas: 37. (2) "Bulletin", No. 10 (Dec., 1969), PACE Society of America. The PACE line is one of mine and I had much correspondence with the early editor of this publication, Marion Pace Mehrkens, who wrote most of the information in those issues. Her write-ups were animated and informative and showed the great amount of research that she (and possibly others who shared with her) did on this family. These write-ups were accompanied by excellent maps showing the approximate located of PACE lands in many places. This publication will henceforth appear in these NOTES as "PACE", "Bulletin". (3) Williams: 69. Elizabeth is called the dau. of John Clements in the marriage bond for which the "surety" was John Guerrant, Jr.. This couple was md. by Rev. Lewis Chaudoin. (4) PACE "Bulletin": No. 16 (June 1771) Sadly, Mrs. Mehrkens did not give the references for her information although I'm sure that these records exist and that she consulted them for these articles. (5) Williams: 69. The bond for this marriage was filed 4 Jan 1790 with the "surety" being John Lee. This marriage is also recorded in the Goochland Co., VA Deed Bk. 15, p. 385 and 452. Mary is said to be the dau. of Robert Pace in this record and the marriage was performed by Rev. Lewis Chaudoin. (9) Williams: 69. The bond for this marriage was filed on 28 Oct 1813, the same day they were md. by Rev. Lewis Chaudoin. The "surety" was Robert S. Smith. (10) PACE "Bulletin: No. 18 (Dec., 1971). (11) Williams: 12. This Jane PACE was said to be "21 years of age". The "surety" was John Green. The marr. date was not given. (12) Williams: 43. The marriage bond was dated 1 Jan 1802 with the "surety" being James Clements and the wits. was Joseph Pace. (next time - Children of John PAGE & Hannah ? ) (J)
Hi....I'm a Goochland/Albemarle county VA Hodges researcher, but I don't have a James in my direct line that fits the picture here. I will post this to the Hodges-L list which would be a lot faster than looking through my uncatalogued and unorganized collection of "Other Hodges". FYI, my line went to Kentucky in the early 1800s and then on to Indiana. But a gazillion or so went south. I know I jump each time I see the Page name....but so far my Page line seems to have gone directly from the Mass Roxbury area to California...... connie In a message dated 4/27/99 9:01:58 AM Pacific Daylight Time, dcr555@softcom.net writes: R-1-9 Patsy ("Polly") PAGE She was b. 22 Sep 1782 and bp'd 19 Apr 1783 in Goochland Co., the last child of William and Mary PAGE whose birth is registered by the Rev. Since one of my main paternal lines is Page, I'm also on the Page-L list. Some of you may know of the amazing work done by Delores Rutherford in the Goochland and surrounding VA areas on the Page family [oh how I wish I wish that my Page family had gone to VA instead of California!]. Anyway, she posted this brief query about Hodge/Page connection. If any of you can help her please reply directly to her dcr555@softcom.net or to me and we will post your response to the PAGE-List. If any of you are researching Hodges/Page you will find a wealth of information probably in the archives or the newly started "threaded links" on the genforum. genealogy.com pages. Hi Linda & All, About the Abbot PAGE of Howard Co., MO.... The only other Abbot PAGE that I've found so far in VA is one in the Buckingham Co. Personal Property Tax records in the following years: 1834, 1837-9, 1841-44, 1847. Because this Abbot PAGE is not in these tax lists any of the years that the census was taken (1840, 1850), he does not show up in any of those VA censuses. This man would probably have reached taxable age (16) ca. 1833-34 and this would give him a tentative birthdate of 1817-18. Then, in 1850, he would be 32-33 years old. Since the Abbot PAGE that you found in Howard Co., MO in that 1850 Census gave his age as 30, either he was "fibbing" a few years or he is a different man. I've read the tax (and many other) records of most of the counties where PAGE families are known to live in the State of VA----most of them through 1850----and this is the only other Abbot PAGE I've found (other than the Goochland Co. one who would be in his 50's in the 1850 Census). Since both of the children (and wife) of the Howard Co., MO Abbot PAGE were all born in VA, this looks promising to be the Buckingham Co., VA man.....BUT we need to do more research in order to prove (or disprove) it. If you or anyone else knows anything more about either the Abbot PAGE of Howard Co., MO or the one of Buckingham Co., VA, I hope that you/they will share it with us. Thanks, Linda, for your input. I wish more people would share their information here for us. That's the whole reason for my posts....to expand on our knowledge of where the Goochland Co. PAGEs migrated. I also have information on lots of other PAGE families in other VA counties and will gladly share it with anyone who has VA ties in their PAGE families. If their problems are posted on PAGE-L, I respond the same way if I know that they have VA origins or else I respond privately to them if I receive a private message. I always learn something new from your posts, Linda. Keep up the good work! If you or anyone else has any additions, corrections or differences of opinion to my posts, please post them to PAGE-L so all can see them. I want to correct any errors in my records and hear new ideas and lineages from this too. Dolores in California

At last some PAGE families have appeared in England. Although as yet none in the area that I am researching. My ggg grandfather George PAGE appears in the 1851 census aged 51 as being born in Wellingborough. He gives his occupation as a carrier. William his son and William his grandson were also born in Wellingborough. Is anyone else interested in this area? Jocelyn, Auckland, New Zealand
Hello George et al.., although I've stayed subscribed to the list my PAGE research has been on hold for several months due to business commitments and I have only just picked up from where I left off. Like George, I am researching PAGE connections in Norfolk England, although mine are based mainly around Gt. Yarmouth. My mother is in regular contact with Raymond Page in Norwich, trying to pull the threads together ! To date my mother and I have transcribed the majority of PAGE entries from the St Nicholas, Gt Yarmouth Parish Registers. St Nicholas was one of the largest parishes in the UK and this has resulted in substantial collection of PAGE family extractions. At the moment I am three quarters of the way through coverting my database of extracts into a web page and will let the list know as soon as it is uploaded. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me if you would like me to check out the database for any relevant information ! Julie Beadle But Wait Productions, P.O. To all To reiterate, our PAGE emigrated from Middlesex to Canada in about 1926. So far I have had little success in locating the family, except in the 1881 British census. Although the family lived in the Winchmore Hill area of North Middlesex, I have not been able to find them again. Family lore says they did not move around much, so why is it so difficult? I have (unsubstantiated) the following: Charles Carter PAGE was born 11 June 1842 in Islington, married Kate Wood WADMAN (born Kingsland, Middlesex c 1858) 30 Aug 1876 in Pancras, Middlesex. Their son Charles William Carter PAGE, born 9 July 1877 in Winchmore Hill, and daughter Kate A M PAGE, born about 1878, also in Winchmore Hill. Charles W C Page married Frances Mary HOULDER, 3rd quarter 1897, Edmonton, Middlesex. I know nothing about her, except that she had two sisters Dolly and Mabel Alice. Does any of this ring bells? regards Pat Page BC Canada

This research has traced the Kentish Page family back to the late 1200's and resulted in a book I wrote and published in 1992: "The Descendants of Robart Page of the King's House - The Probable English Origins, Ancestors, and Relatives of George Page of Branford Connecticut and Thomas Page of Saco in the Province of Maine." Further research resulted in an addendum to this book. I am always interested in finding additional descendants of this emigrant Page ancestor of Branford and sharing info. I am convinced that the Saco Maine Page line from Thomas Page died out after a few generations, but hope to be able to find a current Page line that is linked to Thomas Page. Together with a colleague, Raymond E. Page, of county Norfolk, a great deal of research has been done on the early Page families of that county especially those from the Saxthorpe area. His county Norfolk research has taken him into research in county of Suffolk. The Page-Nelson Society (associated with the immigrant Page ancestor, Col.. John Page of Virginia) has recently engaged professional genealogical services to expand upon the Page families of county Middlesex from where Col. John Page came when he came as a planter and ship owner to Virginia in about 1650. There was another researcher on this Page list who is researching Middlesex Pages of the 18th & 19th century. It is important that the results of these projects be shared on the Page list. George W. Page
I am looking for the English ancesters of Samuel Page, born ca. 1770. Samuel was married to Hannah Cornell. We believe he lived in Swansey, New Hampshire, Telford, Vermont, Keene, New Hampshire and New Jersey. Their children, in order, were Margaret Page who married John Van Valkenberg, John Page, Nathaniel Page born New Jersey 1807, and married Wealthy Peck, Rosanna Page, Rebecca Page, and James Dowlin Page who married Mary Fisher. Samuel Page was a loyalist and went into Ontario, Canada between 1810 and 1820. He was a farmer and a tailor in what was then known as Middleport, Lincoln County, Gainsboro Township, Ontario, Canada. We have a wealth of information on the family descending from Samuel Page but have had a serious problem finding his ancestors. If anyone out there has any knowledge about this Page family please advise. I will be happy to send everything we have re his descendants. Many of them stayed in Ontario but a few went on to Kansas. Samuel Page was my great great great grandfather.
Don Welcome to the Page list. I don't have Pages in Scotland, but mine are from Middlesex. I am so glad to see someone on your side of the water researching this name. Right now I am overloaded at work, but beginning in May, I intend to put a lot more time into my research. If I come across anything that might be of interest, I will be in touch. Good luck with your search Pat Page BC Canada
Hello I joined the mailing list last night and am posting this message to introduce myself and to explain my Page interest. My name is Don Page and I live in Edinburgh. My Page family comes from Fife, where I was born. Although it is a common name in England, it is relatively uncommon in Scotland and it is a name particular to Fife. The 1881 census index showed that over 50% of the Pages in Scotland were living in the county of Fife. Pages appear in the earliest Church of Scotland records in Fife, showing the family was established there by the middle of the 16th century. I have been researching the name for some 10 years and have accumulated a substantial amount of information on all the Page family groups in Fife. Before joining the mailing list, I looked at the Rootsweb list of those with an interest in the name and found only one other person with a Scottish connection. Anyhow, if there are any others out there on the mailing list, I would be pleased to hear from you. Don Page
` Children of William PAGE (R-1) and Mary WEATHERSPOON (his 2nd marriage) R-1-6 Fanny PAGE Fanny was born 17 Sep and bp'd on 13 Oct 1771 in Goochland Co., VA.(1) She was md. to Francis CLEMENTS by Rev. Lewis Chaudoin there on 6 Jan 1795.(2) The 1800 Tax List of Goochland Co. is negative for Francis CLEMENTS and he may be the man of that name in the 1800 Tax List of Lexington Parish, Amherst Co., VA. If so, also he appears in the 1820 Census of Amherst Co. and possibly later ones. R-1-7 Jesse PAGE He was b. 29 Oct 1774 and bp'd on 22 Jan 1775 in Goochland Co., VA.(3) Because he would have reached taxable age after the 1790 tax list was taken, he should have been listed in the 1791 list, but I did not find him in these lists under his father's name until the 1793 list. Jesse's father appears in the 1791 and 1792 with only himself as a taxable white male. He remains taxed with his father through 1794; but, in 1795, he is in his own household. He does not appear in the 1796 list and, in 1797, his name appears, but he is not charged any tax. He is not in these lists again until 1806 and then not after that.(4) On 6 Feb 1806, he md. Polly, dau. of George ALVIS who was deceased at that time.(5) R-1-8 Reuben PAGE Reuben was b. sometime in 1776 in Goochland Co., VA. Only the year of birth is given in the record, but his baptismal date was given as 3 Nov 1776.(6) Because he appears first in the tax records with his father in the 1793 list, we could probably surmise that he was born in the Fall of the year after the lists were made. He remains to be taxed with his father through 1796. From 1797-1803 and 1805-1820, Reuben is taxed in Goochland Co. and appears in the 1810 and 1820 Censuses of that county, but not after that. In the 1819 Tax List of Goochland Co., he has a James PAGE listed with him. Reuben is not shown in the Goochland Co. tax lists from 1821-1832, but he is back in them from 1833-1837.(7) Reuben never owned any land in Goochland Co. as the deeds and land tax records are negative for him. Only two record exist for him in this county other than the Personal Property Tax Lists: 1. On 18 Jan 1805, Reuben PAGE (+) and William PAGE (X) and Bradley BELLAMY (+) witnessed the will of John PERKINS, all signing by mark. However, no PAGE people were named in this will.(8) 2. His name appeared as follows in a List of Insolvents and Non-Residents from whom the Personal Property Tax in the Upper District of the County was not collected for the year 1800: Reuben Page - 1 horse - $ .12(9) No marriage for Reuben appears in the Goochland Co. records although the marriage records show that he had three daughters married in that county. He may have md. a Louisa Co., VA girl. In the 1820 Census, there is a female age 45 & over in his household. This could either be his mother, Mary, or his wife's mother. This census shows that he had four children in his household (two males and two females---all under age 16). The 1830 Census shows a man of this name (Reuben, age 70-80) with two more children in his household in Louisa Co., VA, but his age does not match this Reuben....although I believe it to be him. A James PAGE, age 30-40, is on the same page in this census as Reuben and I believe this to be the man listed with him in the 1819 Tax List. Although the census is not proof that those living with a person are the children of that person, it does appear that Reubin married and had at least three to four daughters and possibly two sons...one of whom was probably the above James PAGE. Here are the known children of Abbot(t) PAGE: (not necessarily in this order) R-1-8-1 Temperance PAGE - md. Thomas FARMER.(17) R-1-8-2 Susan PAGE - md. Woodson PROFFITT.(18) R-1-8-3 Mary PAGE - md. James G. Underwood.(19) and the following may have been Reuben's son R-1-8-4(?) James PAGE - he may be the one whose marr. bond was filed in 1823 in Goochland Co. for a marr. to Margaret Sladyen (Slayden?).(20) The 1840 and 1850 Censuses are negative for any PAGE families in Louisa Co., VA. I haven't checked the land or probate records in that county for Reuben as yet, but the tax records are negative for any of that name from 1815 to 1850. NOTES (1) Douglas: 265. In this record, the mother is given as "Sarah" Wetherspoon, but this is clearly an error and should be "Mary". (2) Williams: 17. The marriage bond, filed 5 Jan 1795, gave her name as "Phany" and stated that she was the dau. of William Page, Sr.. The surety to the bond was William Page, Jr.. (3) Douglas: 265. (4) Rutherford-Pers. Prop. Taxes: 5-6, 13. (5) Williams: 70. Their marr. bond was dated 3 Feb 1806. The "surety" for the bond was William Page. They were md. by Rev. Lewis Chaudoin. (6) Douglas: 265. (7) Rutherford-Pers. Prop. Taxes: 6-20. The taxes for the years 1821- 1850 were read later and are not in this book, but they are available at the Virginia State Archives in Richmond, VA. Temperance is called the daughter of Ruben Page in the marriage bond which was dated 17 Aug 1826. Woodson Parrish was the "security". No date for the marriage was given. (11) Hughes-Standefer: 84. Susan is called the dau. of Reuben Page on this bond which was dated 15 May 1830. The "security" was James Page. The witness was Jerry W. Profitt. The marriage was performed on 20 May 1830 by James Wharey, minister. (12) Hughes-Standefer: 103. Mary is called the dau. of Reuben Page. The marr. bond was dated 8 Sep 1830 with the "security" being Ira R. Hunt. The bridegroom was said to be 21 years of age. They were md. on 9 Sep 1830 by James Wharey, minister. (13) Hughes-Standefer: 75. This bond was dated 22 Oct 1823 with the security being Jefferson Brooks. No marriage date was given in this record. Here's an item that will be of interest to those who are interested in the PAGE families in King & Queen (and later Caroline) Co., VA. The MAGAZINE of VIRGINIA GENEALOGY, Vols. 28 and 29 has the following series of articles by Richard Statten titled "A Merchant's Account Book, King and Queen County, Virginia, 1750-1751" which has records of purchases made by the following PAGEs: William PAGE, Sr. William PAGE, Jr. Nicholas PAGE Jacob PAGE Caroline Co. was created in 1727/1728 from Essex, King & Queen and King Williams Cos.. At least the first three men in the above list are to be found in the meager records of Caroline Co. also. Good luck with your search. Hope you'll share any results with the rest of us and I will do the same. Dolores
` Children of William PAGE (R-1) and Agnes HOUCHINS (His first marriage - continued) R-1-5 William PAGE William was b. ca. 1768-70 in Goochland Co., VA. This birthdate is estimated from the fact that he was first taxed near his father in 1787.(1) His mother may have died at his birth as his father remarried later in 1770. William md. Milley HOPPER, dau. of John HOPPER and his wf. Agatha, on 7 Apr 1791 in Goochland Co..(2) A record involving this John HOPPER's estate appears in the Goochland Co. court records whereby William PAGE "in right of his wife Mildred formerly Mildred HOPPER", Agatha HOPPER and Piety HOPPER "an infant of tender years by Rice Mims her guardian and next friend, legatees of John Hopper, dec'd" sue Anderson HOPPER, executor of the estate, and Patterson HOPPER. This case involved a division of the slaves of the deceased amongst his legatees and the court appointed several persons to do this.(3) Another case considered at the Mar 1797 Court involved the division of the slaves in John HOPPER's estate in which William PAGE "in right of his wife" received the negro, David, worth £60.(4) There were five William PAGEs in the 1810 Census of Goochland Co.. If I have figured them out correctly, this William is the one with only one child in his household---a male age 10-16. By the time that the 1820 Census was taken, this William's father was dead and the other three William PAGEs had left this county. This left only one William in Goochland Co. in this census and it was most probably this one. This year, William was in the "age 45 and over" category and the son was said to be age 16-26. The 1830 Census lists only William PAGE and gives both his and his wife's age as 70-80 which would not fit this William. No other persons were in their household and no other PAGE families were in the county. Since this William PAGE would have been in the "age 60-70" group, perhaps this was an error of the census taker or mine either in estimating William's birthdate or in reading this census. Despite the apparent discrepancy in the ages of this couple, this just has to be this William PAGE and his wife. The last year that William PAGE appears in the Personal Property Tax Lists is 1832, but the 1833 lists were difficult and sometimes impossible to read so he may have been listed in them. This would give a death or departure date from this county for William of ca. 1832-1833.(5) It is believed that William and Mildred PAGE had only one child---a son whose name is not known at this time although he may have been Archer PAGE first taxed in 1819 there. I cannot place this Archer PAGE in any other PAGE family in this county. Archer PAGE appears in these tax records only from 1819-1821. NOTES (1) Rutherford-Pers. Prop. Taxes: 3. His name appears next to his father's name in the "Upper District" of Goochland Co. and he is shown as "William, minor, son of William". (2) Williams: 70. They were md. by Chas. Hopkins. The bond for the marriage was filed on 2 Apr 1791 with Jesse Hodges as the surety. This record is also in Goochland Co., VA Deed Bk. 15, p. 487. (3) Rutherford-Court: 22. (Goochland Co., VA Ct. Order Bk. 20, p. ? (the page number was unreadable on the microfilm that I read. This case was entered at the Nov Ct. 1796). (4) Rutherford-Court: 23. (Goochland Co., VA Ct. Order Bk. 20, p. ? (the page number was unreadable - it was considered at the Mar Ct. 1797). (5) Goochland Co., VA Personal Property Taxes, 1821-1850. Virginia State Archives, Richmond, VA.
