    1. [PAGE-L] James PAGE - KY
    2. Dolores C. Rutherford
    3. The James PAGE that you are asking about was the son of Robert PAGE and Mary MURRELL who were in Albemarle Co., VA and moved to Adair Co., KY ca. 1806-1807 as he is first taxed in Adair Co. in 1807. According to family records, James was b. 6 Jun 1788 in Albemarle Co., VA and md. Susannah J. FOSTER. His father, Robert, died in Adair Co. in 1817 and his will is recorded there. However, he still owned land in Albemarle and Nelson (formerly Amherst) Co., VA when he died and the records whereby his heirs disposed of it are recorded in those counties. Robert's ancestry is still in question, but Mary MURRELL was the dau. of George MURRELL and his wife Janet CHEWNING (CHOWNING?) It appears that the deed that you mentioned is for this James PAGE as he had 225 acres of land on the Green River in Adair Co.. In 1824 (the last year that I copied the Adair Co. tax records), he was shown with 8 slaves. His name was next to his mother's in this list and he was the only James PAGE in the county. By the 1830 Census, James is shown with 21 slaves (11 males, 10 females). Hope this helps. Dolores

    1. [PAGE-L] Railroad genealogy- retirement board
    2. Hi...In answer to those who responded to my posting about locating information on railroad workers I'm posting the following locations. I'll answer individual questions separately. I'm not certain about the extent or if there is information on casual workers. My ancestor applied for retirement benefits even though his work history was sparodic and I received a monthly summary of his employment from about 1906 through 1958, information about his three marriages, and some non rr related work history. I was able to track him across the US and even have a possible "alias" to check out. Hope this helps some of you. connie Web site for the Railroad Retirement Board....check out regional office addresses to find one closest to your ancestor's location and then write a snail mail and they will check for his employee records. http://www.rrb.gov/ This is the address I used to request a search...It can take from 30-60 days to complete and the search fee is not refundable, even if they are unable to locate the information requested or the file has been destroyed. I think the fee was $15 or maybe a bit more. By the way, the social security number of my ancestor was not the one that shows the holder to be a railroad employee, so even though he was not "career" they did have extensive records for him. 2. Dan Page
    3. The 1840 census of Teabo (or Tebo) Twp, Rives Co. MO (later renamed Henry Co.) shows: PAGE, B. J. 2m (0-4) 1m (20-29) 1f (20-29) 1sf (10-23) 1 (Agri) Can anyone identify this B. J. PAGE?? Nearby in Big Creek Twp. was Joshua PAGE (Anderson, James, Exolheath), but I can't find a B. J. in that line. B. J. does not appear in Tebo Twp. on the 1850 census, nor elsewhere in Henry Co. Joshua had a son named Benjamin, age 18 in 1850. I'm wondering whether Joshua maybe had a younger brother Benjamin born 1811-20?? <<IF>> B. J. was a "Benjamin," the only Benjamins I can identify of about that age are descendants of Robert Page and Rachel Brockman. e.g. Maybe he was Benjamin (James Nelson, Robert, Exolheath)?? 3. Cousins, Please bookmark - save - the url for my homepage: http://www2.netdoor.com/~cch/ There are time when Internet connections between you and others malfunction for one reason or another, and you may not be able to get or receive posts from some locations. If this "malfunction" occurs between your ISP and RootsWeb, your list mail may be delayed. If you are ever concerned that there might be a more serious problem, check my homepage - if I hear of anything that is causing prolonged difficulty, I will post a notice there. Am always glad to hear from all of you - but if your e-mail is not making it through, I might not get your post (or be able to get one back to you), while you could still access my home page. As you have seen in the RootsWeb Review, we have new research tools for surnames, all in "clusters". They are still being installed and fine-tuned, but some can already be used. 2. "Thank you" really doesn't express how very grateful I am to Delores for sharing her ideas and research with us. As a newcomer to this increasingly pervasive hobby, I have learned so much from her attention to detail and her thoughtful analyses of the available records. Equally impressive is her thorough and cogent presentation of the evidence, augmented by her words of caution. Nevertheless, even though the words aren't enough-- thank you, Delores, for sharing your knowledge and expertise. You are a family treasure! Sincerely, Pat Landwehr
