Gov. John Page of Virginia, a close personal friend of Thomas Jefferson is the John Page you refer to. Gov. John Page was married twice and had twelve children by his first wife of which three died young, their names unknown. By his second wife he had eight additional children. I have a copy of an obituary from the Omaha World Herald Jan. 16, 1913 on an Elizabeth Page who died in Omaha. It says that she was born in the western part of Maine and she and Mr. Page (no first name) were married at Waltham, Miss (maybe should be Mass?) in 1854. Unfortunately, it was not the Elizabeth Page I was hunting for. However, if anyone else is interested in this short obit, I will be glad to mail it to them. Pat MacE
I just found something in my Essex Co., VA notes that may be of interest to some of the NC PAGE researchers.... (names put in capital letters by me) Essex Co., VA Will Bk. 5, p. 82-85: Will of Thomas BRYAN Made: 1 Apr 1732 Probated: 16 May 1732 Names: Joseph ADCOCK - a good cow & 2 good yews David SCOTT - to take care of his estate until he can send for "my loving cousin John PAGE liveing on Newfe (Newse) river in North Carolina" and to "find and provide a woman to live upon my plantation to take care of Elizabeth GRAYHAM....while my sd. Cousin John PAGE Comes" Cousin John PAGE - testator lends him during PAGE's life, his "Mollato Man Ben" and at John's death, Ben is to go to sd. cousin's heirs. Also a negro man named Leicester and one named Matt, one negro man named "Exceter", one negro boy named "Jack", one negro woman named "Bess", one negro woman named "Betty", on negro girl named "Kate" and a negro girl named "Nan. Also all of his land and personal estate Thomas BARKER - 1 English pound for writing this will as soon as it is probated. Executor: Cousin John PAGE Wits.: Thomas Barker Elizabeth Adcock (mk. "A") Jane Tirrel (md, "A") This "cousin" John PAGE deeded 170 acres of land to James Jones in 1734. (Essex Co., VA Deed Bk. 21, p. 35). This land was described as being the land whereon this John PAGE lived and "which Thomas BRYAN....died Seized off" and bordered the land called "Savages plantation" also owned by John PAGE and it names the persons who owned land adjoining this land. A month later, John PAGE sold another 110 acres of land which bordered the above land and lay on the branches of Piscataway Creek. (Essex Co., VA Deed Bk. 21, p. 52) No more records of this John PAGE have been found in Essex Co., VA so he may have returned to NC. Interestingly, one of the witnesses to this latter deed was Richard CAUTHORN. I wonder if this man may have been related to the CAUTHORN families who were in Goochland Co., VA?????? Dolores
Family legend has it that my family are descended from Sir Francis Page (1661 - 1741) of Bloxham, Oxfordshire, England. He was a renowned High Court Judge, a member of parliament and he was knighted by King George I in January 1715. My 3x Great Grandmother was a Harriet Page born about 1820. She married Edward Chandler in Lambeth, Surrey in 1841. That is all I know about Harriet and would like to prove or disprove the possible link between her and Sir Francis. Can anyone help. Listmembers, To anyone researching the Page families of Brown Co.,Ks. I recently found out about a family cemetery and got to visit it this week. The people owning it cleaned and cleared it, repairing many of the stones. There are a dozen graves marked and possibly more marked with rocks. Anyone of this line or if you think you might be, contact me at hummer@kansas.net for a list of those buried there. Vicki Schaefer

Thank you for the response to Moses PAGE, but I do not have dates other then the 1700 to go with him. I have that he married Mary WINSLOW b. 1665 daughter of Edward Winslow, and they had a daughter named Hannah that married a Bagley WEED from New Hampshire. The Sandwich area I believe. As for Jeremiah being his father, I think I may have been on error on that. I do not know who his father or mother are. If you possibly have any clues that may help me please let me know. I am really trying so very hard to find this individual. Birde mailto:Birde@bigfoot.com USA

New to list, would welcome some help..... Hezekiah K. Page, born 1811 in VA (?), he married Nancy McCloud (1815-1874) of Lee Co., VA. I'd like to know who his parents were. I have many other Pages in my line, but cannot fit him in. Is he related to Williamson, Lampkin, and Chesley Page who all came to Hendricks Co., IN? Preston Lampkin Page (12 Jan 1847) was his son. There is also a John Preston Page (married Lucretia Page) who connects somehow. Sound familiar to anyone? Kerry Hendricks County, IN

Andrews Moriarty, "The Page Family of Danvers, Mass." in NEH&G Register, Vol. 105, Jan. 1951, pp. 25-27] Samuel Page, of Concord, MA, b. in Watertown, MA on June 20, 1633 and died before 11 April 1704. He married Hannah ___ and settled in Concord. Samuel was the son of the immigrants John and Phoebe (Payne) Page (see The NEH&G Register Vol. 101, pp. 242-245.. Samuel and Hannah Page had 8 children of which a daughter Elizabeth was listed as the sixth child. On 11 April 1704 all of their children except Samuel entered into an agreement with their mother regarding division of the estate. In this Ebenezer (fourth child b. 17 Jan. 1675/6) is called "ye only son of deceased" (Middlesex Probate, vol. 7, pp. 397/8). Older son Samuel, b. 5 Jan. 1670/1 died before 11 April 1704 apparently without issue. According to Charles Nash Page in his Page Genealogical Chart # 2, dated Dec. 1917 in Point Loma, CA, the Elizabeth Page who was the daughter of Samuel & Hannah Page m. Mr. Perry. He also states that Samuel Page was b. in Watertown on Aug. 20, 1633, lived in Concord and Salisbury and died in Watertown in 1691. He lists nine children for Samuel & Hannah Page with Elizabeth child # 7. This is NOT my Page line so I defer to the real experts of this line for additional info on this line. George W. Page
Good morning to the PAGE list members, I tried posting this query a few days ago, but haven't seen it appear so am trying again. Raymond David Wheeler in his "The Wheeler Genealogy", Vol. 3, page 46, shows an ELIZABETH PAGE as the second wife of BENONI FOX. He doesn't, however, give ELIZABETH's parents. I have tentatively identified a SAMUEL and HANNAH (Surname Unknown) PAGE as parents. SAMUEL was born May 20, 1633, in Watertown, MA, and died December 1690, in Lexington, MA. If anyone on the list can confirm, or if I am incorrect, supply the correct parents, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Rick in Thailand
Hello to everyone. I am a real newbie as far as the internet but not entirely true of genealogy where I have almost nine years I can claim. I have been on your list for about two weeks. I have been "lurking" as I think you call it. I hope I am using this new vocabulary correctly. I thought that I would introduce myself today since maybe I could contribute a tidbit to the comment and question posed by Dolores C about the Goochland PAGES. Actually my reason for subscribing to this newsletter concerns a related matter. I am in the process of tracing my ALLEN line which originates in Henrico,Goochland, Albermale, and Shennandoah from about 1597. Close to the very beginning of this line I have a Valentine ALLEN who married a Mary PAGE "before the 10th day of August 1696". The father of this Valentine is reported to be Colonel Thomas PAGE from Essex County. Both (there are 2 versions) of this record identifies John MAJOR as Valentine's father. One version lists an Elizabeth ALLEN as his mother and another version has no information about that. The children of Valentine and Mary are Samuel,Reynolds, Richard,Valentine,William ALLEN who later married a Mary HUNT,Christina who married Henry LONG, Sussannah who married Francis BURTON in 1640. There is another daughter Judith with no marriage listed. I will be checking into the Valentine ALLEN line although it is not a priority for me right at the moment. I want to check the relationship if any of this man to Valentine ALLEN the WAR PATRIOT who lived from the twenty-ninth day of April 1730 and died in Rockingham County N.C. If there is I guess there would be some connection of the PAGES also with North Carolina and the Shennandoahs. This latest Valentine died in 1798. Thanks I said way too much on this hot day. I hope you succeed in keeping cool. Muriel C. Allen e-mail mural @earthlink.net
In Part #43 of my PAGE Treatise posts, I showed that there were families in the Stewart Co., TN 1850 Census that "hinted" at a possible connection to the John PAGE, Sr. & wife Hannah line in NC. Last week, I found that the local genealogy library had the book "Stewart County Heritage, Dover, Tennessee", Vol. I compiled by the Stewart County Historical Society, 1980. Pgs. 311-313 have write-ups of the PAGE families belonging to one PAGE line. It stated that the earliest PAGE settler (in that family) was Vincent PAGE who was b. ca. 1815 in NC. His wife was Sarah ("Sallie"), b. ca. 1823 in TN. Vincent was a carpenter by trade and arrived in Stewart Co. in the late 1820's. He bought land that was still in the family in 1980. He and Sallie had six children: William, Joshua, Polly, John, Frances (Kit) and Sarah (Sack)---the names in parentheses "appear" to be their married names. Of course, more work needs to be done to tie this family in to the NC PAGE families who originated in Goochland Co., VA. If anyone makes (or has made) this connection, I hope that they will share it with the rest of us. Dolores
