Would anyone have any information on the John Page / Lydia Sanford family of Epping ? They were married about 1750 . I am hoping to see if one of their children were the parents of Charles Page (b. abt. 1820) . A possibility is Aaron Page (B. July 27 , 1779) who married Betsy Cilley April 24 , 1805 in Rockingham Co. Any help greatly appreciated . Mahalo , Kevin

Hi, Does anyone know of Dr. Neuman Hall, who did extensive searching of the PAGE families? Would like to know his address. Does anyone know of a PAGE registry by a person in FL started sometime ago? Would like to know more about that also. Gwen in WA St.
A dear friend of mine just pointed out a PAGE bible that is being auctioned off at ebay.com. I thought I would pass it on to you in case it is part of your line. I am including the url below, but if you can't get to it for some reason, search for "NH GENEALOGY". http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=148006406 A truly one-of-a-kind!! This Bible belonged to Martha E PAGE, wife of George CARTER and daughter of George W. PAGE and Ellen M. TREFETHEN. Both parents are both buried in North Hampton, New Hampshire. Martha's paternal grandparents were Stevens H. PAGE and Eliza WORTHEN who was born in 1802. I have a little more information gathered from NH Vital Records and will include. The old leather Bible is well worn, but the binding is tight and the pages all perfectly legible with only the typical staining of a book 150 years old. It measures 9 inches tall by almost 6 wide and is very heavy. I have scanned all of the pages on which records appear. A true treasure for a Page, Carter, Trefethen, McLaughlin or Worthen cousin or for a collector of old family Bibles. Buyer to pay $4.00 for bookrate postage. Check or money order. Thank you!

Hi, We're leaving with our travel trailer for a short vacation and will be going through Salt Lake City, Utah on our way to see the Lewis & Clark Museum in Montana. I'll get three DAYS at the GREAT Mormon Library again, but have enough research planned to take three YEARS. I won't be unsubbing from PAGE-L during this time, but I won't be able to answer any mail (all kinds) until our return. We're not worried about leaving as the sheriff lives on one side of us, the President of the Neighborhood Watch lives on the other side and our FBI son will be staying here to feed our three pit bulldogs and see that the electric fence remains fully charged. See you all later....hope to get lots of "goodies" in Utah!!! Warmly, Dolores

My great-great grandmother had her mother-in-law committed to the Dayton State Hospital merely because the woman was mildly senile and a lot of trouble to care for because of physical poor health. This was in the late 1920's or early 1930's. So I don't think we should jump to conclusions that anyone was what we would, in our "enlightened age," consider insane merely because they were committed. Vicki
Lets not forget that the First Lady, Mary Todd Lincoln, was institutionalized merely on her son's signature. He thought she went insane after the shooting of her husband. Perhaps he expected his mother to be stronger than she was, and maybe he thought her emotional withdrawel was indeed insanity, and not the unspeakable grief left after the death of two children and a husband. Thank God we have become more educated and compassionate.

Connie, it depends on the definition of insanity.....A family secret was kept that my great grandmother had been in a mental institution. I ran across it in the State Archives and asked my parents. They explained that grandmother was crazy for awhile. Being a genealogist, I had to dig further. I found the court document for when she was commited. She was commited for throwing a rock at my great grandfather. He had been making fun of her false teeth and made her sit out in the other room while she ate because they made too much noise. She got tired of it and threw a rock at him. She did everything he said after that, according to my family members. She showed some anger and got in "big" trouble for that. Sometimes we need to investigate further. Cathy - >Wondering....? The brother of my maternal g-grandfather ended up in insane >institution. Just found another deed that I missed yesterday in my William F. PAGE post. This is for land that belonged to his father, Lemuel PAGE. Logan Co., KY Deed Index: Page, Lemuel & wf. Susan to Henry Cressan* Deed Bk. Q, p. 405 (38 Acres on Whippoorwill Creek) (this accounts for 38 acres of the 83 1/4 acres that I could not account for Lemuel disposing of in this county----just 48 1/4 acres left) If anyone can account for the other 48 1/4 acres, please post it here so all can have that information. I also have a correction to make on the recording date of a deed on yesterday's post: Deed Bk. 31, p. 253: Hickman & Morgan to Susan PAGE Recorded: 5 Feb 1852 (NOT 1952) * In Part #23 of my PAGE-L posts, I discussed a Henry CRESSAN - this is obviously the same man - and, by the way, I read the Botetourt Co., VA Personal Property Tax Lists 1823-1833. Here's what I found on that name: 1823 - Negative 1824 - Henry G. Crodon 1825 - Henry Crodeon 1826 - Henry Crodeon 1827 - Henry Crodson 1828 - John Cronnon (or Crosson?) Henry Crodson 1829 - Henry G. Crodson 1830-1833 - Negative I believe this to be the same man who was later in Logan Co., KY. I will be searching the deed records of Botetourt Co. next for this name and let you know what I find.
