Hi, Here is the information that I promised you from the Botetourt Co., VA deeds on the Henry CRODEAN that I thought might possibly be the same man as the Henry CRESSAN who purchased land in Logan Co., KY from Lemuel and Susan PAGE in 1830. (Logan Co., KY Deed Bk. Q, p. 405) To jog your minds, I was trying to figure out what happened to Anna ("Anner") PAGE (E-7-5 in Pt. #23 of my PAGE-L posts). Anna was the dau. of Benjamin & Anna PAGE (E-7) and she md. Andrew CRESSON in 1805 in Goochland Co., VA. When she joined her siblings in a deed disposing of her father's land after his death, she was said to be "of Hanover County", VA. Then we lost her. The story takes up when the above deed appeared in the Logan Co., KY records. Lemuel PAGE (E-6-6-2), the grantor, was also a descendant of the Goochland Co. PAGE families, so I wondered if the grantee in this deed (Henry CRESSAN) could have been a son of Andrew and Anna (PAGE) CRESSON.....that name was evidently French and been found "murderized" all sorts of ways. While sleuthing on this Henry CRODEAN, I found the only man of that name had been in Botetourt Co., VA until 1829 and this kind of fit in timewise with when the Henry CRESSAN purchased the land in Logan Co., KY from Lemuel PAGE. Here is what I've found so far on the CRESSON, etc. name: BOTETOURT CO., VA Deed Bk. 9, p. 185: James CLOYD & his wf. Catharine Made: 12 Aug 1806 to Recorded: Sep Ct. 1806 Christian GREGANG, all of Botetourt Co. For $1 - 1 lot of ground in the town of Fincastle - 1/4 acre adjoining the Methodist Meeting House. Deed Bk. 19, p. 101: Henry CRODIAN & his wf. Mary Made: 30 May 1829 to Recorded: 30 May 1829 Henry BOLTON, all of Botetourt Co. For $150 - 1 lot in the town of Fincastle - 1/4 acre - adjoining the Methodist Meeting House. Deed Bk. 21, p. 542 Suppose to be a deed from Lewis PAGE to Coleman LEDBETTER dated 1835 here, but I couldn't find it although I checked quite a few pages. 1830 Census - Botetourt Co., VA p. 266: Andrew CRESSON 1 w.m. 50-60 1 w.f. 40-50 (he wasn't in the 1820 Census there) p. ? James PAGE 1 w.m. 50-60 1 w.f. 50-60 1 " 15-20 Probate Records (1770-1850) - Botetourt Co. Negative for CRESSON/CRODIAN/GROGONG and PAGE. 1840 Census - Botetourt Co., VA Negative for CRESSON, any imaginable spelling No PAGE families there. LOGAN COUNTY, KENTUCKY (more records) 1840 Census - Logan Co., KY (have the PAGE entries, but will not include here) p. 209: Henry CRENSHAW 1 w.m. 50-60 1 w.f. 50-60 1 " 20-30 1 " 15-20 PAGE families on the same page. REVOLUTIONARY WAR SOLDIERS (checked VA, NC, SC records) Andrew CRISON - 5th So. Carolina Regt. Andrew CRISONG/CRISSONG, Pvt. 5th & 11th VA Regt. In my mind, this still leaves a lot of questions....would appreciate any more information on the CRISON(G), etc. family forward or back from these people. Dolores

I'm not a cousin but can provide much useful Page info for you: Your Amos Page line is descended from John Page (b.c. 1614 near Hingham (sic, see following), Norfolk (sic, see following), England) of Haverhill, MA line who is well documented in a book, "The Family of John Page of Haverhill, Mass, A Comprehensive Genealogy From 1614 to 1977" by Lynn M. Case and Paul Sanderson. I have had correspondence with other researchers of this line who have identified the English origins and ancestry of this emigrant: He was the son of Thomas & Cicely Page who were m. Oct. 4, 1607 in Rattlesden, Suffolk, England. The emigrant was however b. in Worlingham, Norfolk, England. [Source: In Oct. 1993, Charles E. Page, RD#1 Box 270, Oneida, NY 13421; (315)363-2578.] Another sources partially refute this: On page 26 of this book it states: "3.57 Amos Page (Cornelius, John Page) b. 22 Oct. 1677 in Haverhill, MA, married (1) Hannah Hussey (?), bp. 20 Mar. 1709 as an adult, d. 4 Apr. 1740 in Salisbury, MA; Amos m.(2) 24 Jun 1741 Merriam Stevens of Haverhill. MA. Amos was a soldier in Queen Anne's War in 1710. Res. in Salisbury, MA." Children of Amos & Hannah are listed and include 4.126 Theophilus Page who is discussed on p. 37. He m. Hannah Dow who was the daughter of John DOW of Hampton, MA. who m. Hannah Page who was b. 5 Feb. 1678 in Haverhill, MA the daughter of Joseph & Martha (DOW Heath --- the daughter of Thomas & Phebe Dow of Haverhill, MA and widow of Joseph Heath) Page. Joseph Page was a brother of Cornelius Page and the son the immigrant, John Page of Haverhill, MA. Theophilus' son Daniel Page and his family are discussed on p. 56; Daniel's son John and his wife Hannah Page (dau. of Samuel, Theophilus, Amos, Cornelius, John Page) are discussed on p. 90; Joshua Page and his family are discussed on p. 129. He m.(1) Alice Butman who died in 1849 and m. (2) Jane Peasles who was the mother of your Alice C. Page, b. 1856 who m. Edward Winslow. Cornelius Page and his family are well documented on p. 22, and of course much is written about the subject, John Page of Haverhill, who was the immigrant ancestor of this line of Pages. The reprint of the book may still be ordered from Higginson Book Co. of 148 Washington St., P.O. Box 778, Salem, MA 01970; (508)745-7170; Or, go to: <http://www.higginsonbooks.com/p.htm> for "PAGE. Chase. 6p. $4.00" Hope this helps. George W. Page (of the Branford, Conn. line of Pages)
Hi everyone: I have just discovered this mailing list and thought to contribute my Pa(i)ge line. The name was originally spelled Page, and sometime during the mid-eighteenth century, the "i" was added. The family lived for the most part in Hampton, Kensington and Weare NH. 1. Nicholas Page 2. Amos Page = Hannah Connor 3. Theophilus Page = Hannah Dow 4. Daniel Paige = Mary Peaslee Samuel Paige = Mary Johnson 5. John Paige==========================Hannah Paige 6. Joshua Paige = Jane Peaslee 7. Alice Chase Paige = Edward Hollis Winslow (my great-great grandparents) Hope to hear from other cousins. Rick
Oops! Zoned out for a second . My query should have read Charles Page lived in Epping and Exeter , Rockingham , NH . Take care , Kevin
I was wondering if anyone has access to the IGI for New Hampshire , and would check for a Charles Page born about 1820 . He lived in Rockingham Co. in epping and Essex. Mahalo , Kevin
Does anyone have access to the Carolina Co., VA Court Order books either by John Frederick Dorman or Ruth & Sam Sparacio? I need the PAGE entries for the years 1743 to 1765. I have all the rest that I need for now. If anyone has these books and would supply this information, please contact me as I need some specific information about each entry. Thanks for any help you can give me on this. It's difficult to obtain some Eastern records here in California. Gratefully, Dolores
Does anyone have a Ruby Page in their tree? My Ruby was born on October 11, 1896 in Woolwich. She married Cyril Smith but I'm not sure of the date. They had three sons, Stuart, Ian and Jeffrey. I'm very interested to find out who her parents were. Thanks, Kim Thompson (kthompsn@worldchat.com)
Pat, We've corresponded before and I saw your message on PAGE-L dated 27 Sep on Ches(t)ley PAGE's family. Although I don't have this particular PAGE family, I have been doing research on all of the various PAGE family lines early in the State of Virginia. If I'm repeating some things that I've told you before here, just ignore them as I haven't kept all of our previous messages. I think that I mentioned to you before that Peter PAGE went to Lee Co., VA ca. 1806-1807 from Charlotte Co., VA. John PAGE was there ca. 1808- 1809, also from Charlotte Co., VA. I found no record that he ever owned any land in Charlotte Co., but they did own land in Lee Co., VA. The 1814-1826 Personal Property Tax records for Lee Co. are missing and Williamson first appears on the 1827 list along with a number of other PAGE men who belong to the same line of PAGEs. Williamson PAGE is on record as purchasing 100 acres of land on a fork of Trading Creek in Lee Co. in 1826. He purchased this land from Benjamin SHARP of Montgomery Co., MO through Benjamin's Attorney-in- Fact, John D. SHARP. Williamson sold this land in 1831 and then disappears from Lee Co.. I pick him up next in 1833 in Hendricks Co., IN with some of the other former Lee Co., VA PAGE men. You say that Peter PAGE died in VA. Do you have the date? I see that a Peter PAGE was in the Lee Co., VA Censuses of 1820 and 1830. Unless the 1830 one is a son of his, Peter must have died shortly after 1830. There are no probate records for this older Peter PAGE in the Lee Co., VA records. Who is the Peter M. PAGE who deeded land to Eli HUBBARD in Lee Co., VA in 1832? Could he have been a son of old Peter and the Peter that I found in the Bellville, IN (Hendricks Co.) Voters List by 1834? Do you have a listing of all of the children of your old Peter PAGE and his son Williamson PAGE? If so, would you mind sending me those with their dates and names of spouses? I will not ask for more as I'm not collecting all of the descendants of all of the PAGE families of VA. However, I do like to get them down to about 1850 or so for my records. In return for this, I will gladly give you more information on the Lee Co., VA deeds that I've abstracted on these families if you don't already have them. Thanks for any help you can give me on this. Warmly, Dolores
In searching for Howard Page, I recently obtained a listing of four Page families in the census of 1855 from Herkimier County, NY. On the chance that there are other listers who may be interested, I am listing just the names and age of husband. If anyone wants the rest of the family ages, etc, let me know. Town of Ohio -- Howard Page (age 28) wife Elizabeth(Van Alstine) Page, children, Marilda, Jane, May. Town of Newport - Abial (age 61) wife Betsy Page and Mary (Abial is from Vermont) Town of Newport - Jessey (age 63) and wife Mary E. Page Town of Little Falls: WIlliam (age 63) wife Mary, children Maritta, Henry, Madison (William is shown from Vermont also) Howard Page, wife Elizabeth and children moved to Houston Co. Minnesota and then settled in Burt County, Nebraska. Still searching -- Pat MacEachern
I got so many replies to my post which was just a fishing expedition that I thought I would again post my family information that I am sure of - I am seeking the parents and siblings go James Madison Page, bn 2/28/1818 in Greenville, SC. He had a brother Lemuel, bn 1813 also in Greenville. Oral history indicates that the family moved to GA before the two brothers went back to settle in Lincoln Co., NC. In Lincoln Co. James M. PAGE married Sophia Temples 1/26/1841. James & Sophia moved back to GA in 1859. Is anyone else out there researching this PAGE family? Or does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks - Sara Webster

An Abigail PAGE married Jonathan ROBINSON about 1760 and had 12 children in Stratham, Rockingham, New Hampshire (Mercy, Mary, Shadrack, Meshech, Abednego, Ebenezer, Abigail, Jane, Jonathan, Bradbury, Noah, and Elizabeth). I identified an Abigail PAGE in the right area and age but have no other information that either supports or disproves this identification. Does anyone have any information about Abigail PAGE, born 12 Mar 1743 at Hampton, Rockingham, NH, daughter of John and Hepzibah (TOWLE) PAGE or knows of another Abigail who might be Mrs. Robinson? Vicki and Delores, I seem to be coming later into this conversation but I am glad I did, as I have the same lines that I am researching, I just recently started on this side of my family and have been reading messages. I have some info but no dates or places, just names, would love to have places and dates to go with them. It seems my ggggg grandfather was Peter and he had 5 sons,I only have the date for one son as I think I decend from him, anyway the sons are, Williamson b. 17 July 1797 John Preston Lampkin (your spelling is different than mine) Peter Jr Chesley Does this sound like the same line? If so I would love to have more info from both of you.I have also been in touch with Kerry Trout through this site and he has data on the same lines.I am working with him at the present.Being able to share is so great and it helps to keep us from hitting so many brick walls that we do on our own. Let me hear from you both. Vicki, Here's the total reading on the 1830 Census of Hardy Co., (W) VA from my book "The PAGE Family in Virginia Census, 1790-1850": p. 96: Alexander Page 1 white male 30-40 1 white female 50-60 1 " " 15-20 1 " " 30-40 1 " " 10-15 2 " " 15-20 3 " " under 5 1 " " under 5 Does this match with your information? Hardy County was part of the State of Virginia until the Civil War and it split with Virginia over the slavery issue and formed an independent State in 1863. Dolores
Dolores, What a bunch of info- I think the 1830 census of Hardy Co., W.Va. just might well be worth checking into- it sounds very promising. Do you happen to know if there are other children besides the male 15-20? All I know is John was the third of four children. Would Hardy Co. have been part of Va. originally? I have not even looked in W.VA. Thanks so much for your help, Dolores. Vicki
