    2. This is all very interesting. As some of you know, I am trying to find any connection between the PAGE's who went to Howard Co., MO and then to Lafayette Co., MO. with my bunch who came from Madison Co., KY to Howard Co., MO and most stayed there with a few ending up in Chariton Co., MO. I still think there is a connection. I found a death index for Lafayette Co., MO with a lot of the PAGE family on it. Will have to do a search on "Mac" to find where I put the file...but will post it. Linda Manning Jupep@aol.com

    3. Thks to all who are interested in the Thomas who had a daughter Fannie in Henry Co. MO. I haven't looked at that DAR file to see what it might have on that James Page and his children. I wonder if it might have left out a generation. i.e. Thomas may have been an additional son of William J. Page and Christian Hodges. I've been thinking about looking again at the number of sons in the Logan Co. censuses for William J. I think there are other Henry Co. MO Pages which may have direct connections to Logan Co. KY, and I mention them here for you Logan Co. experts. One is a William A. Page buried in Henry Co. MO with other Exolheath Page descendants from south central KY. There are so many Williams, it's difficult placing them all. But I suspect that this William was the son of the Timothy Page of Logan Co., a brother of Lemuel. This is probably the same William who was living with John and Nancy (PAGE) Toler in the 1850 Census of Logan Co., Kentucky. Nancy was his mother's sister. But I have nothing further on him in KY - but a William A. then shows up in Henry Co. MO md to a Nancy. Of course, Logan Co. had multiple Williams born in that time frame, but I found just one William "A." I have no proof that William A. of Henry Co. was William A. of Logan Co. Another loose end in Henry Co. MO is a mysterious Andrew J. Page who shows up living next to the Andrew who was a son of William and grandson of Anderson Page. The 1880 census shows him with this household (133-181): Andrew J. Page 37 MO KY KY Nancy B. 34 wife MO KY KY John A. Yoby(?) 13 nephew MO MO MO Wm. W. Miller 4 nephew MO TN TN I think he's also the so-called "extra Andrew" buried near Quincy in Hickory Co., MO next to an Andrew descended from Exolheath (Andrew<William<Anderson<James<Exolheath). The extra Andrew is provably not a son of the other Andrew. That he went to Henry Co. MO and parked next to our Andrew is enough to raise questions.... What bugs me a bit here is that Wm. W. Miller "nephew." There were Millers in Henry Co., of German descent, from PA, who md Pages - e.g. Henry F. Miller b 1842 md Nancy Elizabeth Page, d.o. William Redman Page. I think I've pretty well eliminated those as the Miller connection. However there were also Millers in Logan Co. KY and I've not checked into that possibility. e.g. William J. Page had a son-in-law Russell Miller?? I think it was Dolores that brought Russell Miller to my attention, but I haven't tried to explore his Page connections. Well, I've rambled all over the place. Hope no one minds - clearly I'm a bit curious about Logan Co. these days. At 07:33 AM 12/11/1999 -0800, you wrote: >Dan, > >You brought up an interesting fact and it got me going again!! 1. [PAGE-L] Thomas PAGE of KY & MO
    2. Dolores C. Rutherford
    3. Dean and Dan, Now this is getting interesting!!!! Thanks Dean for your contributions to the Thomas PAGE problem. The marr. records were good ones and seem quite plausible. Now, all we have to do is to "dig" for more records to either prove or disprove that it was the same Thomas in both marriages. I've further perused the information that Betty Jo Moore sent to me on her James PAGE & Sarah WELBURN's family, I do not see a Thomas PAGE in the listing of their children. Betty Jo didn't have birthdates for all of their children, but it seems that they would all have been born anywhere from 1769 to the mid-to-late 1790's. Thomas PAGE of that 1850 Logan Co., KY Census gave his age as 33 which would give him a tentative birthdate of ca. 1816-1817....counting him out as a possible son of James PAGE and Sarah WELBURN. That James PAGE died intestate ca. 1801 in Knox Co., TN. So it appears that we can discount the James and Sarah (WELBURN) PAGE out as possible parents of that Thomas. Back to the drawing board!!! Now, if we could just prove that those two (or one?) Thomas PAGEs of the Christian and Logan Co. marriages were the same person!!!! Do you suppose someone working on the SIMPSON line might be able to shed some light on the Thomas PAGE and Catharine SIMPSON???? Perhaps a post on the SC KY List would bring some results.....do you want to try, Dean? As for the two PAGE children living with the SMITHs in that 1850 Census, I looked through my Logan Co., KY records and couldn't find a Benjamin of that age in any of the PAGEs who descended from the Goochland Co., VA ones....but, I might have missed this Benjamin. At a time like this, I surely wish that I had all of the various PAGE people on my computer. It would surely make it easier to find people!!! But I've opted not to take the time to put my families on any genealogy program....have too many other things I want to do. "nuf for now.... Dolores

I find these PAGEs fascinating, and I have much to learn after the tribe leaves Kentucky. As an interesting footnote, my wife's grandfather, John Henry PAGE, who descended from Anderson PAGE and Anderson T. PAGE had just accepted a call to fill the pulpit of a Baptist Church in Missouri, near a number of his cousins, and was planning his move from Hart/Barren Co., KY when he died of a heart attack. No one in the family knows exactly what part of MO he planned to go. Dean

    1. [PAGE-L] Thomas D. PAGE
    2. Dan and Dolores, Your discussion regarding Fannie Page, daughter of Thomas D. Page has piqued my interest greatly. I don't have much to add to the discussion that would shed much light on the subject, but I did find the following that might be helpful. Per FTM CD #223 (big grain of salt, please) Thomas D. Page and Isabella R. Catlett were married 1 Oct 1846 in Christian Co., KY, which adjoins Logan Co. to the west. I also found a Thomas Page who married Catharine Simpson on 15 Feb 1836 in Logan Co., KY. Dolores, from your citation of the 1850 Logan Co. Census, John and Sarah Smith who lived nearby, had two Page children living with them. The oldest, Sarah Page, 10 years, would be "about" the right age to have been a child of the Page/Simpson marriage above. The younger, Benjamin Page, would have been born before the Page/Catlett marriage in 1846. I was not able to find a listing on the CD for a marriage between a John Smith (must be a hundred of them) and a Mrs. Sarah Page, nor indeed a Smith/Page marriage of any kind in KY, NC, TN or VA. Nonetheless, don't you agree that there is some circumstantial evidence that Thomas D. Page had indeed been married twice, and the Sarah Smith living nearby *may* have been his mother, who had taken her grandchildren, *possibly* after their mother's death. While I have absolutely nothing to support me on this, I can conceive that Sarah *could* be Sarah Welburn, widow of James Page, of VA, and later of TN. M. Dean Hunt Louisville, KY

    2. Dolores C. Rutherford
    3. Dan, You brought up an interesting fact and it got me going again!! Here's what I found and a possibility for Fanny's line....now this is just a "possibility". I found Fanny PAGE in the following household in Logan Co., KY in 1850: The KY Census Index for 1850 lists this man as Thomas B. PAGE, but I read it was Thomas D. PAGE----I haven't checked it again, however, and could have erred. p. 104: District #2 - Dwelling & Family #473 - taken 18 Sept Thomas D. Page - age 33, b. VA - farmer - real prop.: $1500 Isabella " - " 27, " KY Fanny " - " 2, " " Henry " - " 6/12, " " Enumerated on the same page: p. 104: District #2 - Dwelling & Family #479 - taken 18 Sept John Smith - age 77 - b. VA - farmer - real prop.: $1200 Sarah " - " 66 - " " Benjamin Page - " 8 - " KY Sarah E. " - " 10 - " " Do you suppose that Thomas D. PAGE was md. before and the children in the SMITH household "might" be those children by his 1st marriage? I can't place any of these PAGEs yet. To fight in the Rev. War, a James PAGE of the Goochland Co. bunch would probably have to be in the 2nd generation of those families. My James and the James who md. Sarah WELBURN are the only two second generation James PAGEs that I know of in those lines. My James served in the Rev., but had no son named Thomas. In looking through my readings of the various VA Pers. Prop. Taxes, I found something that "might" pertain to that Thomas. There was, among others, a Thomas D. PAGE in the 1838 list of Buckingham Co., VA. He may also have been the Thomas PAGE (without the middle initial) in the lists of that county for 1836-1837, but not after 1838. There were several PAGE men in these Buckingham Co. tax lists, including a James PAGE there 1785, 1787-1789, 1795-1797. As I said in my PAGE Treatise (Part 7), I think that this James PAGE was the one who md. Sarah WELBURN in Goochland Co., VA. However, this James had left Buckingham Co. by 1797. He was "probably" the one in Knox Co., TN by 1798. There were other James PAGE(s) in these Buckingham Co. tax lists for 1810-1811 (could the above James have come back for a couple of years?) and 1837-1838, 1840-1842 (these years show some with middle initials of L. and E.). Just some "food for thought" on this problem. Dolores

    3. The History of Henry Co. Missouri, 1919, by Uel W. Lamkin, pp. 524-525, has a biography for a William M. McCOWAN b 1828 IN d 1875 Henry Co. MO. His father, James McCOWAN moved from KY to IN. According to the bio, William McCOWAN md Oct. 1874 (2) Fannie C. PAGE "who was born in Logan Co., Kentucky in August, 1848, the daughter of Thomas and Isabella (CATLETT) PAGE, both natives of Virginia. Thomas PAGE was the son of James PAGE, a soldier of the Revolution. One child was born of this second marriage, Miss May McCOWAN. When eleven years of age May McCOWAN removed with her widowed mother to Oakland, California, and there she received a high school educatio. She graduated from Oakland High School in 1895. Miss McCOWAN has studied at the Warrensburg Normal School, specializing in history. She and her mother returned to Windsor, Missouri, in 1895 and she began her successful teaching career...... Miss McCOWAN is a member of the Henry County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution....." We know that many other PAGEs in Henry Co. at that time were descended from Exolheath PAGE of Goochland Co. VA. e.g. Lemuel PAGE (William<James<Exolheath) settled in Henry Co., and his father William PAGE d 1850 in Logan Co. KY. So, I'm wondering how or if this Fannie<Thomas<James PAGE were somehow connected to the other Exolheath descendants who traversed a similar path from VA to KY to Henry Co. MO. Can anyone help on this?? I just checked the 1860 census for Henry Co. KY and did not find Thomas PAGE. Dan Page dpage@ipa.net

Keziah Sawtelle b. 9 Oct 1761 Vasselboro ME. d. 9 Feb 1843. Does anyone have any info on these people and their descendants. It is old and some of it is hard to read. I would like to correspond with anyone and share info....Please send replies to both drowe03@hotmail.com and drowe03@ibm.net. thank you. David Rowe.
