Thank you very much for this response. I was quite certain that John Page/Phebe Paine were not accurate but had not done much more searching after getting the info from a cousin, so many lines - so little time. Your note gives me some information to lead my search. So often such things end up never being proven these hundreds of years later, but elimination of some possibilities is always a good thing. Thank you for the information. Jo Hogle In a message dated 9/18/2008 2:38:30 P.M. His parentage is a point of conjecture. Some say: John Page of Haverhill, MA who immigrated in 1635 was the son of Thomas & Johan Baker who were m. Sept. 14, 1607. The details of the immigrant John Page of Hingham who married c. 1640 Mary Marsh. (b. c. 1622 in Hingham, Norfolk, Eng., d. 15 Feb. 1697 in Haverhill, MA) who was the dau. of George & Elizabeth (Key) Marsh of Hingham, MA is fairly common knowledge. We have established the "Fingerprint Y-DNA Markers of his line of PAGEs. [See: www.PageY-DNA.org] In 1993 I had correspondence with Charles E. Page, RD#1, Box 270, Oneida, NY 13421 (315)363-2578 who addressed the Parentage of John Page of Haverhill in a letter to me: "John Page (b.c. 1614 (not 1619) near Hingham (sic), Norfolk(sic), England - 23 Nov. 1687 in Haverhill, MA) of Haverhill, MA line is well documented in a book, "The Family of John Page of Haverhill, Mass, A Comprehensive Genealogy From 1614 to 1977" by Lynn M. Case and Paul Sanderson. [I have a copy of the book in my possession.] I have had correspondence with other researchers of this line who have identified the English origins and ancestry of this emigrant: He was the son of Thomas & Cicely Page who were m. Oct. 4, 1607 in Rattlesden, Norfolk, England. The emigrant was however b. in Worlingham, Suffolk, England, not in Norfolk county as formerly believed." There are other researchers who have researched this further but found no conformation of this ancestry: GWP At 08:01 AM 9/18/2008, you wrote: >I am trying to determine the parentage of John Page, b. c1614, England, who >was married to Mary Marsh c 1640 in Hingham, MA. I am trying to determine the parentage of John Page, b. c1614, England, who was married to Mary Marsh c 1640 in Hingham, MA. He died in Haverhill, MA in 1687. He does not appear to be the son of John Page and Phebe Paine, as they had a son named John c 1630 in Watertown according to The Groton Register (apparently I didn't note the page number...grrrr). According to a cousin, some sources do note them as the parents of John b.1614. I find it highly unusual that they would have 2 sons with the same name that would both live to adulthood. Does anyone know who this John's parents were? He is my 9th great grandfather and I would really appreciate the help in solving this confusion. George, I do not think you have covered our Page family yet, or have you??? Charles Page- B. Prussia 1842- came over from Germany to Philadelphia before 1870 and married "Wilhelmina". Their first child- Emma- was born in 1872 . I have gotten all the info from the census and IGI Index. I just cannot get further than Charles and his parents, grandparents, etc. I have pretty much information about Charles and their children, etc. up to today. Do you have a line of Page's in the Philadelphia area that came over from Germany that my Charles might be a part of? Supposedly he changed his last name to Page when he came over here... ANY info would be greatly appreciated!! Vicky Webb Page Tampa, FL thepagefamily@tampabay.rr.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "George W. If you have a living male PAGE relative, he could be Y-DNA tested and from his results I could place him in one of about 15 PAGE lines that I have established "Fingerprint Markers." He can join the project and order a test kit from the link on my website at www.PageY-DNA.org. The 1870 census shows Moses living with Emily/Emma in Farmington, La Crosse Co, but I cannot find any of the others that year. The son Christopher Marshall married Ella Irene TYLER in Osceola, Polk Co, WI, and I can follow his movements from there. I am interested in finding the parents: father Christopher is shown as 65 or 68 in the 1860 cs., born NY, and Sarah is 60 b. NY. I have been unable to find any trace of them before 1860 (no NY census when children shown born, no WI, not even in 1849 in Sheboygan. Is it possible, too, that Christopher Marshall is not their own son (looking at the respective ages)? Are there any descendants of Moses A?
