    3. Hello Again, I have come across an article in a book titled "Encyclopedia of the History of St. Louis" that describes a Daniel D. Page who was a merchant/banker and one time Mayor of St. Louis. I'd like to pass on a scan of this article via email. The article says he was born 5 May 1790 in York Co., Maine. Moved to Boston, MA. and entered into the Bakery business. There he married Deborah Young. In 1818 he relocates to St.Louis, MO. and enters into public affairs and is elected the second Mayor of St. Louis. Daniel D. Page died 29 April 1869 in Washington D.C. Does anyone have this Daniel D. Page in their research? Regards, Steve Page

    1. [PAGE] Civil War Pension Card
    2. Steve Page
    3. Hello All, I was looking at one of my Page's Civil War Pension card tonight and I'm having trouble reading what the names or titles of some of the columns are due to its poor quality. The problem is with the Pension card print, not the hand writing. About mid way down the card is a column that says something like Case or Cause. This column also has sub headings which appear to say Invalid, Widow and ??? I just can't read the last one ......maybe Minor or Married??? I would like to know what the unknown name is as it appears to have the date of 23 June 1868 in it but, I don't know what the date is for. Does any one have a good quality blank Pension card they could email me. Or at least tell me what the column names are? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Steve Page

    3. From: < PageandCo@aol.com> Subject: Daniel D. Page Date: Thu, 6 Aug 1998 09:59:21 EDT Hello! We're attempting to confirm the lineage of my great, great, great grandfather Daniel Dearborn Page ("Goldrush Banker"). He was senior proprietor of the "Page, Bacon and Company" banking house of San Francisco, Sacramento and St. Louis (1849-1855). Family tradition holds that Daniel Dearborn Page was descended from Robert and Lucy Page who immigrated from Ormsby, England to Hampton, New Hampshire (circa 1637). We have been unable to verify this information. The following facts about Daniel Dearborn Page are certain: -- Father: Benjamin Page (b.24 Jun 1761; d. 3 Nov 1838) -- Mother: Elizabeth Hobbs (m. 1788) -- Born: 5 March 1790 at Parsonsfield, Maine -- Married: Deborah Nash Young (b. 7 Apr 1779; d. 19 Jan 1864) from Scituate, MA (She was a descendant of Mayflower pilgrim Peregrin White) -- Children 1) Francis Wyman Page (b. Nov. 1820; d. 18 Sep 1883); 2) Julia Ann Page (b. 9 Aug 1826) wife of Henry Douglas Bacon (co-proprietor of the "Page, Bacon and Company" banking house). Any information would be appreciated. Much Thanks, David Winslow Page

Page ________________________________ 2nd Mayor of St. Louis, Missouri In office 1829 – 1833 Preceded byWilliam Carr Lane Succeeded byJohn W. Johnson ________________________________ BornMarch 5, 1790(1790-03-05) Parsonsfield, Maine DiedApril 29, 1869 (aged 79) Washington, D.C. Spouse(s)Deborah Page Daniel D. Page (March 5, 1790 – April 29, 1869) was the second mayor of St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Daniel Page was born in Parsonsfield, Maine in 1790. At the age of fifteen, he moved to Portland, Maine where he learned to be a baker, later setting up his own shop in Boston, Massachusetts. In Boston, he met and married Miss Deborah Young. Shortly thereafter, he moved to New Orleans, Louisiana and became established in the tobacco trading business. Despite his success, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1818 due to his wife's failing health as she was adversely affected by the climate in New Orleans.[1] Page was elected the mayor of St. Louis in 1829 and went on to serve four consecutive one-year terms. He was only the second mayor of St. Louis, the first being William Carr Lane who stepped down after serving six years in office. During his administration, many of the streets in St. Louis were graded and paved, a night watch was established for the protection of the citizens, and street cleaning and refuse collection were begun. Page also strengthened the Health Department and advocated for an improvement to public waterworks system.[1][2] After his tenure as mayor had ended, Page turned his attention to his business matters. In 1833, he built the first steam-powered flour mill in St. Louis. In 1848, he partnered with his son-in-law Henry D. Bacon and created the banking house of Page & Bacon. During this time, he invested heavily in railroads and real estate. Page & Bacon closed in 1855 on account of financial difficulties from building of the Ohio and Mississippi Railroad.[1] Daniel Page died in Washington, D.C. on April 29, 1869 and was buried in Bellefontaine Cemetery in north St. Louis.[3] Page Boulevard in St. Louis was named in his honor.[4] [edit] References 1. ^ a b c Reavis, L.
