Thank you so much for this info. I have very little time to research and therefore am so extremely excited when relatives do include me in their contributions! I am going to add this to my database ASAP! I am seeking Haywood Murphy Page, b. May 30, 1928, who married Annette Holmes McLawhorn on Dec. 31, 1960 and had three children including a son, Albert Haywood Page, II, b. Aug 21 1964 who m. Teresa Dawn Bennett on June 20, 1987. Y-DNA testing of either Haywood Murphy Page or any of his male descendants, should provide Y-DNA markers that can be compared with the Y-DNA markers of other male descendants of North Carolina and Virginia Pages to seek or confirm a common male Page ancestor. Haywood Murphy Page wrote a research paper entitled, "A Genealogy Of The Page Family" in which he traces his North Carolina Page ancestry back to a Rev. War Vet, John Page, (b. 1759 in Edgecombe Co., NC - 1845) who he described as being the son of Joseph Page, Sr. thought to have been raised in King and Queen Co., VA, who went to the Edgecomb-Pitt, NC, area around 1750. Joseph Page, Sr. (birth and death years unk.) was described as a son of John Page, b. Dec. 22, 1699, who with two of his sons (John and William) moved their families from Goochland Co., VA, to an area about eight miles from Tarboro along the Tar River near what is now Conetoe, NC. Hi, I send off an email every now and again with hopes that someone can help me... no definite luck so far but here goes again. I am a descendant of the 5 PAGE brothers who sailed on to Launceston Tasmania Aust in 1841. The research at the Australian end has been ably covered but the research in the UK is my problem. I have substantiated research up to and including Thomas PAGE b27Mar1744 in St. Peter Cornhill London , Married Susanna MIDDLETON of Darenth. The 5 brothers came from Darenth/Dartford in Kent Over the years I have had several helpful researchers who have suggested various ascendants to Thomas. No one has said to me that their research is proven on these names so Im asking now.... can anyone please give me any information or tell me that the info I have is correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated... this is a wall I have had for many years now. My info as follows....... Thomas Page b. 1744 St. Peter Cornhil. Susanna Middleton ... His Parents... Edward Page b. abt 1725 in Boxgrove. M. Hannah Lockley 6 children His parents... Edward PAGE b. 21 Jun1695 in Boxgrove. Mar. Mary BALDOCK of Gravesend His Parents Thomas PAGE b. 01May1660 in Funtington. Mar. Joan Wakeford of Boxgrove. 8 children His parents Edward PAGE b. 1628 in Funtington. Mar Elizabeth BEAMSLEY of Boston Mas. 6 children His parents Thomas PAGE b. 1601 Mar Joan GRIMES in Salehurst SSX His parents Edward PAGE b 12MAy1583 in Barcombe SSX married in Barcombe 7 children. Do any of these names above appear on anyone else's line or is the information I have correct? Would appreciate any help I have not yet subscribed to the DNA testing... am in Namibia West Africa now. Whenever I get to the point of subscribing (for my Uncle) my husband up and takes us out of the country... most inconsiderate of him. This test is something I will need to be in Australia to have done.... Uncle is aged. If there is someone in Australia reading this who is also a descendant of one of the 5 brothers and has done the DNA test then I would appreciate being put out of my misery. Only one of us need to do the test. I look forward to any help/advice I can get Cheers Heather Domoney
Hello All, My Dad, William Douglas Knight (Doug) aged 74 son of Vera PAGE, from Henley in Arden, lost his long battle with leukaemia on 10th January. I would like to let his estranged sister, maiden name Margaret Joyce Knight, better known as Joyce, know about his death, but I have no idea where she is. I believe she married either Albert Hall or Dennis Abbotts in 1962 or 1963 respectively. Joyce was born in the early 1940's, being the youngest of three, Pam being the eldest. If anyone has any information of Joyce's whereabouts, or could let her know, or put her in touch with me, I would be very grateful. Regards Maureen
For a long time a 'brick wall' in my research has been my ancesstor HENRY PAGE, who died in Hillingdon in 1851. The 1851 census gave his birthplace as Charlwood, Surrey - though I find no trace of him in the records there. Henry Page's wife was Jane Godden and the couple had ten children between 1810 and 1831, all born in London. In 1841 and again in 1844 he lived at 20 Bury St off Piccadilly His occupation (census; baptismal register entries) is always 'independent' or 'annuitant', though for a while (in the 180s) he seems to have been a partner in a snuff and cigar manufactory in Bread St, Cheapside; in the mid 1830s he may have had a butchery business at 44 Great Marylebone Street (or the shop may have belonged to his son, Henry William) He had three brothers - THOMAS, RICHARD, CHARLES ROBERT. I have only succeeded in tracing the first, Thomas (1766-1835) who was for a time a partner in Grays Inn Coffee House and Tavern. Thomas and Richard were childless but Charles Robert married and had issue. The last of the brothers to die (either Charles Robert or Richard) may have died just before 1861. By late 1861 all the brothers had died. If these names have cropped up in any list member's researches, I would be most interested in exchanging information. If any list member has any suggestions to make that might lead to progress in this search I would be grateful to receive them Ian (in Cornwall UK) _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Powerful Free email with security by Microsoft. http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/196390710/direct/01/
Ian... Thanks for the info on your ancestor, Henry PAGE, who died in Hillingdon in 1851. It may be that some members of this family immigrated to the US. It would be interesting if a living male descendant of Henry PAGE would participate in our PAGE Y-DNA group, which now has over 100 participants. Only two, so far, in this group are from the UK. Do you know of a male direct descendant of Henry PAGE that may be interested? Thanks again for contacting me and I look forward to hearing from you again. Cheers.... :) John In a message dated 1/10/2010 10:08:06 AM Eastern Standard Time, yelkcub@hotmail.com writes: For a long time a 'brick wall' in my research has been my ancesstor HENRY PAGE, who died in Hillingdon in 1851. Hello All, A number of years ago I corresponded with another Page descendant named Debbie Paige. I would very much like to reconnect. So, if you are still on this list, Debbie, I would love to hear from you. If not, does anyone have a current e-mail address for her? Thanks, Eileen Page Coyle
Hi Eileen: I have PAGE's in New England back to the early 1600's. My PAGE's are in Salem, Hampton, Lynn NH, and the on to NJ in 1708. Once you get as far back in New England as you have, records abound. NEHGS has awesome publications on line in NE Ancestors. I go to my library & use their subscription. A distant cousin's DNA analysis got us from our dead end in 1766 back to our original immigrant ancestors and also three generations across the pond. This special cousin found me on THIS list! When I started researching NEHGS, not only did I find pages & pages of information, but also that an early ancestor married the granddaughter of a famous colonial reverend. NEHGS gave me three more generations and an abundance of info on Rev. Stephen BACHILER. Check him out in Wikipedia! His life was an inspiration for Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter." So. Go to Wikipedia, and search Deerfield, New Hampshire. After reading it, scroll down to "References." Find History of Deerfield, History of Rockingham and Strafford Counties, D. Hamilton Hurd, 1882 This is on line! also: Genealogical and Family History of the State of New Hampshire, Ezra Scollay Stearns, 1908 Go to Google Books. Enter "Benjamin Mary Page." You may find a book with them in it, and it may be on line. Try the Roots Web Surname Lists. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ http://rsl.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ The LDS Family History Libraries have Ancestry on line. My public library has Footnote as well as NEHGS. Let us know what you find! Eileen, in the 1800's in Dallas county, TX, there was a gunfight between a Page and a Coyle that ended with the Page dying and the Coyle going to prison. They were supposed to be related but I haven't figured/found out how the relationship was. Just curious since I saw your name, to see if you knew anything about it. Thanks. That's quite a story, but no, I have never heard it before. ----- Original Message ----- From: <LAFON2RED@aol.com> To: <page@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 28, 2009 8:09 PM Subject: Re: [PAGE] Benjamin Page - Deerfield, NH > Eileen, in the 1800's in Dallas county, TX, there was a gunfight between a > Page and a Coyle that ended with the Page dying and the Coyle going to > prison. Sandra, I don't know of a Joshua Page.....not having researched enough about the Page family in PA where my ancestors were born. However Samual Ault, married Catharine Page who I believe Abraham/Abram to be her brother who moved to IN. She and Samuel Ault and many of the family left Lycoming County in 1850 and settled in IL. During the journey they stopped in IN where their daughter gave birth. Another daughter, Catharine and husband, Nathan Baker and son followed the family to IL in late 1800's after their discharge having served in the Civil War. Their daughter, Mary Emma married in Muncy, PA and remained here in the area where I live. She and her husband Nathan Baker Hess are my g granparents. I noted your AULT name, prompting this message. Evelyn McCarty Bryan
Does anyone have a Joshua Page Born 1774. He is supposed to have died at Sea. Children Betsey and Harriet and 2 more children. I would like to find out the other childrens names. My ggreatgrandfathers father was supposed to have died at sea. As the story goes in the family. My ggrandfather was from New Hampshire born around 1800. His name was John Page. We had family member tested and it comes back to John Page of Haverhill. I would appreciate any help. Sandra Ault
Thank you for your reply to my inquiry regarding Benjamin Page. I have the Case/Sanderson book, and have studied it quite thoroughly. So far each lead has taken me to a dead end, but, as they say, tomorrow is another day. So far, I have not been able to find a male Page relative who is willing to have his DNA tested, but I keep trying. Eileen ----- Original Message ----- From: "George W. They were probably descended from the John Page of Haverhill, which was a common given name in that Page Family Line. A search of the Lynn Case book on that John Page may provide a hit, but there are several Benjamin Pages involved. Fortunately most of them refer to a spouse and/or location. IF you have a living male Page relative (father, brother, uncle, or cousin) willing to be Y-DNA tested, you can probably determine your Page Family Line to help narrow your search within New England and contribute greatly to your family history.
