    3. Dear Ruthanne, We have been in contact before. I have a Jacob O. Page from Ontario b. 1823 . He moved to Illinois and married 1866 to Caroline Long Overholser. He died in Danville Ill. in 1868 with one child Oliver Jacob Page. I now have a direct line DNA on file at Family Tree DNA. Our matches suggest that Jacob may be related to a Thomas Page 1650 came to Isle of Wight VA . Jacob may have come from a relative who left England later or was a Rev. War Tory who left for Canada . I'm still hoping for more clues. Marge On Tue, Jul 6, 2010 at 3:00 AM, <page-request@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. 3. Ruthanne and all, I can't offer much history, nor can I connect them to my Joseph Page of Philadelphia, PA family , but I have a record for this family from Christ Church Philadelphia, PA....maybe you have this too. Joseph Page married Frances Chaterton 1 Jun 1770 at Christ Church, Philadelphia, PA. They had 3 children baptized at Christ Church, Philadelphia, PA at the same time. 1. Jesse, b. Aug 1771 baptized 22 Feb 1784 2. Mary, b. Sep 1773 baptized 22 Feb 1784 3. Benjamin, b. Mar 1775 baptized 22 Feb 1784 4. Ann, b. 8 Feb 1779 baptized 22 Feb 1784 There are military records for a Joseph Page in Philadelphia during this period, but I am fairly certain they are for my Joseph who was Quaker and condemned for joining the revolution. My Joseph Page married Deborah Bell in 1777 at Gloria Dei (Old Swedes) Church in Philadelphia; that is where the Quakers went when they were not permitted get married at Quaker Meeting. Gloria Dei was technically a Swedish Lutheran Church, but the clergy was always Anglican, supplied by Christ Church. Today Gloria Dei is an Episcopal Church. Susan Page Howland George W. 3. I believe you are stating that your Native American Indian's mtDNA was somehow passed on to your male relatives. That is biologically impossible as her mtDNA was passed from her to her sons and daughters, but only her daughters could pass it on to the next generation, which was not a "full blooded" Cherokee. 3. I ought to have added that Richard and John, according to the family story, had migrated to Brazil, possibly as soldiers. _________________________________________________________________ The New Busy is not the old busy. 3. There are two other Pages possibly associated with South America. They were mentioned in court during Charlotte Tappenden's claim to be the rightful heiress of the 'Page Millions'. In 1911 Charlotte Ann Tappenden claimed in court to be related to the legitimate heirs of Henry Page (who died in 1829 and had allegedly been swindled out of his huge estate). These ‘legitimate heirs’ were Richard and John Page. Their sister was Charlotte Ann Tappenden’s mother, Mrs Helen (or Ellen) Downs. During the court case Charlotte Ann Tappenden mentioned another sibling of Richard and John – a sister who had never married called Ann Page. Richard, John, Helen [Downs] and Ann Page can be traced back to Richard Humphrey Page and Hannah. Charlotte's mother, it was claimed, had been in touch with Richard and John Page, but after a while they ceased writing. When Mrs Downs discovered in 1864 that she had a claim on the Page estate and tried to contact Richard and John, but there was no reply. _________________________________________________________________ The New Busy is not the too busy. 3. No! From extensve research, Exolheath Page was born the American Colonies. probably in King & Queen Co., VA. There are at least three Page Family Lines that have a living association with South America: 1. The Line of Col. John Page (Page-Nelson Society) who had a descendant Capt. Thomas Jefferson Page, US Navy, the eighth son of Mann Page, who entered the US Navy as a Midshipman in Oct. 1827 (two hundred years after his ancestor Col. John Page was born). He rose to the rank of Captain and in 1853 he was appointed to command an expedition for the exploration of the tributaries of the River de La Plata and adjacent countries (Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay(. He returned in May 1856. In 1857 Congress made a further appropriation to complete the exploration of Panama and the Paraguay Rivers,. He finished this project in Dec. 1860. 2.The line of Thomas Stokes Page from NJ who, on a passage around Cape Horn to California, jumped ship in Valpariso, Chile,. There he fell in love with a local girl and he settled down in Chile where they raised a family. Several of his descendants still live in Chile. 3. In my line from George Page, Gent. of Branford, CT, my father George Ava Page, took me and the rest of his family to South America to live. In 1947 we travelled by freighter from Long Beach to Valpariso, Chile, took the train across the Andes to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where we lived for four years. My father moved to Brazil and Chile before retiring in the Bahamas.
